Crysis single player demo

Well, I think EA lies, because they're assholes.

Their stupid countdown site "www.crysisdemo.com" had a countdown timer running down to midnight this morning. (12:00am 10/26/07)

Well, I got home last night around 11pm, checked the site, and it had some kind of BS "waiting for ****" or whatever. I was annoyed. I waited till 12:30 and went to bed. Now the timer is going again, counting down till TONIGHT at 11:59pm. WTFZ??!112/1one

EA can blow me. Why the Crysis team decided to go with those ass-hats is beyond me.

I'll just wait for the public demo, and buy the hard copy of the game. Oh lawd help them if they decided to put SecuRom or something worse on the disk/download. Oh, and who wants to bet that DLing the demo from free download sites is going to be a pain in the ass? More justification for the people who pay for file-planet accounts, what a joke.

I am crabby today, shut up.

Well, that depends on two things. What video quality options are available in the demo, and how the demo runs compared to the retail game.

I am not upgrading my system until I see some concrete benchies of the retail game. Although I do see a Q6600 in my future.

The SP demo has all the graphics settings that the retail version will have, including very high. Unfortunately even people with monster systems are reporting poor performance using the very high settings, even at lower resolutions.

There were some issues encountered with the pre-order demo loading and unlocking properly too, but I guess those have been ironed out now. There's a long thread already about the demo over at NVNEWS:

Apparently there's a new nvidia driver out too specifically for Crysis. No word yet on how it affects performance.

Well. It's gorgeous, and runs ok on all medium settings here(1024x768). The AI is pretty good to. much better than Farcry

I'll chime in for a minute. Specs in my sig, running at 720p no aa or af. Everything on high it runs above 30 the whole time so far, but I haven't finished it yet. I think it is nice, my game of the year for sure. You can forget DX10 with less than SLI'd GTS/X unless you want to play at 1024 or less res from what I have read so far. It runs in the teens at 1280 with 1 GTX in DX10.

Should be up tomorrow AM in the states for everyone else. I don't know if I would trust a torrent as you need an unlock code so you will probably have to redownload tomorrow for a nonencrypted version. But you might be able to play in the editor as I was able to last night. The editor is nowhere as good as the release version though.

Good to hear. Hopefully an 8800 card can get the same results at 16x10 (or 16x12 in my case).

The SP demo is out today for the ones who preordered the game.

With my rig at 1920 X 1200 @ high in Xp with the latest beta driver 169.01 or something like that i averaged a little less than 30. I turned a few settings down to medium (2 or three of them) and it ran around 30 average. It's still too slow for great performance but this is also a BETA, not final code. More mature drivers and LOTS more tweaking from Crytek and we will have a fantastic game. I used fraps as the FPS measurement tool.

I'll try Vista now, so with DX10 and ultra higha and all that jazzzzzzz.. We'll see.. I'll report back.

But the level is freakin' awesome!! just had to say it..

First run in Vista was a total disaster!

First of all very difficult to get the game to run for some reason, but who cares..

The performance in DX 10 was terrible. Around 8 FPS with everything on Very High and 1920 X 1200.. Very sad.. This is with the 169.01 drivers from nVidia..

Everything on High rins abour 24 Fps average.. something is clearly wrong here.. DX 10 does not look that much better..

In theory I'll have it in around 13 minutes, we'll see.

1920 x 1200 and slowdowns? Try bumping the rez down a bit - you're not running a parallel processing super computer.
