Since you did such a good job of predicting a necro.... I will respond. A lot of it has to do with bot training. At some point in time, a snapshot was taken of a whole lot of sites and data. That snapshot was then used to train the bots. It can sometimes take months of time for bots to train, and sometimes, the training materials was even old before the bots were designed and started training. The bots are then released, and now pick some thread that they algorithmically scored "best" on to be able to jump into a conversation, and comment on that thread, not taking into account that the date is months ago, and thus "necro" a thread. Why do bots only necro old threads? Is there some sort of programming that makes them only comment on threads that haven't been active in a long time?
The past few bot replies that necro'd old threads keep editing the comment a few days after the initial comment was made, but now it adds a clickable link like the one above you did. The link was added on Saturday and nobody has caught it yet...Since you did such a good job of predicting a necro.... I will respond. A lot of it has to do with bot training.
