CS: Source

LOL OP I know how that feels. My brother and I ran a competitive clan in the early days of college when time was easy to come by. We would easily play 5-6 hours a day and started to really get into the game in Beta 5.2. (m4 with a zoom-able scope anyone?) I was so into it that i'd get fired up and tear my mouse out of the back of my computer and throw it across the room (a-la GZNails Keyboard tantrum) if my shot missed or if something that I thought was total BS would happen. Maybe it runs in the family Eh Nails?

I picked it back up about a year ago and going 0-12 at a pretty consistent rate is pretty humorous to me now.. Some days I swear I couldn't hit a player that was AFK in spawn haha.

The way I see it, FPS is like riding a bike, once you've mastered killing, you can come back and should do the same from a break. Possibly a round or two to get re-aquainted with your new controls but overall there shouldn't be a problem.

least thats how I do when I jumped back on BF2 after a few months break. Owning newbs just like before. Feels great.

That may be the case when you are going back to the same game, but source is a completely different animal than CS was. The amount of randomness involved in source is crazy.

I don't agree with this. While you can take a verteran player who has not played in years and he will still know how to use the keys properly, strafe, aim, etc.. However, just like riding a bike, your stamina and speed will suffer greatly. It will take some work to get back the skills you once had, just like in riding a bike.

Same with muscle memory. If you lifted weights 10 years ago, you can certainly gain it back quicker than when you first had it, but it won't come back overnight. It takes time and training again. It comes quick, but not that quick!

nothing worse then the cs players that whine about how they WERE good in a certain version of the game (ie. 1.6) but not anymore (ie. source). Drives me nuts! I played well at older versions of cs, just as I do now with cs source. If you can't adapt, then you were never good to begin with.

I used to dominate in C&C Renegade and Red Faction CTF when I was younger. I had adjusted perfectly to my 56k modem and I was good. 2-1 kill ratios or a series of damage/flag captures.

CS, I played when I was about 12-15 against Adults on a LAN. I used to be ok at it, doing well against them but I cannot do any kind of FPS games these days... motion sickness

HAHAHA Drifter.. sounds like something you would do.. actually, I was in the room when you threw your mouse, and then it would stop working half way through a strafe and then you would get even madder.. hahaha

It takes us about 1-2 MAPS to finally find the groove, by then its already waaay too late to be playing games with a full time job. And we weren't "better" in beta 5-7, I just liked it more.

And picking it up like riding a bike..? not really, you lose your accuracy with hand-eye coordination after not playing for a while.

I HATE CS. That said, I still keep going back over and over again. It's like crack.

Man, I played CS 1.x like 4 hours a day for two years. Had a top 50 CLQ ranking with two different IDs. For some reason I stopped playing...probably pissed after they changed one of the weapons in one of the patches, which normally would've lasted like a week, but then I started playing BF. Havent played CS since, even after getting Orange Box. After playing COD4 MP CS now scares me.

Same! I play tf2 and start out with a 4:1 ratio and then after a bit I drop down to 1:1 or worse... I should play more but that's not possible while I'm on vacation.

Same here, I came back to CS after not playing for 3 years or so and was generally in the top 5 in every server I played on, then the next day was middle of the pack. Same thing with TF2.

In 6.1, you could get 6 zoomed shots before recoil set in. It was ridiculous.
