It might still say "Cadillac" on the trunk lid in script that would only thrill your grandmother, but trust us, the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe will scare the crap out of your grandmother.

So what does that make this Cadillac? Well, we're not entirely sure. It's bigger than an M3 coupe, but costs about the same. It's actually closer in size to the M5 and costs significantly less. More importantly, it will embarrass both of those machines in a straight line and give either of them a solid run on any back road.

How much should a big luxury rocket weigh? This isn't a sports car, it's a luxury car that happens to be ridiculously fast. You're not cross shopping this with a Lotus. Anyways, the sedan version posted performance numbers that embarrassed plenty of other similar cars that it competes against. You're not buying a weight, you're buying a whole package. If the car can give you all the different kinds of performance you want why do you care how much it weighs?

One of the benefits of living in South Eastern Michigan is that we see a lot of test cars out for a drive by engineers. In the last couple of weeks I have seen this, a Dodge Charger in full leather cover, a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport, and a Ford truck with zebra paint.

Something about being a coupe doesn't make this car appealing. I would take the sedan over this considering it is a luxury performance boat. There needs to be more differentiating features to the coupe other than the 2 door look (which is poorly executed in this example anyways).

And before people get their panties in a bunch, I don't like the BMW 6 series nor the Audi A5 nor the MB SL.

I don't think you are in the market of either, but there is a substantial price difference between those two you realize.

I have been around the CTS-V in person. It's a great car.

Honestly, if I had the money to consider one of these cars I'd be looking at the sedan or wagon. It fits solidly in the sport/luxury segment and is designed to be able to be used day to day but still be ridiculously fast. A 4 door is just a more useful car if you're ever going to have anyone in the back seat and the wagon is even more useful than the 4 door. Also, I just find the idea of owning a wagon with that much power cool in a crazy sort of way.
