Curious graphical artefacts after mobo swap

Here's the situation:

i5 3450 with HD2500 iGPU
Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard
XFX 7770 dGPU
Various other details that probably don't matter

Initially I built and used this setup just fine for weeks. Then the motherboard seems to have shorted out and died.
The Motherboard has now been RMAed, i've got the replacement, and last night I rebuilt it all again.

Everything seems to work fine, except that the iGPU output via the motherboard has strange sort of... small square artefact/glitches across the screen in Windows 7
Whatever the problem is, it generally causes it to lock up fairly rapidly. Initially with lots of errors. (Though they went away after I removed all the Lucid/ATi Catalyst software and reinstalled them.)
So then I restart in safe mode.
Safe mode has no graphical glitches.

So the obvious answer is it's a driver problem.
But I've tried cleanly removing all the drivers (both the 7770's and the iGPU's, and physically removing the 7770 from the system) and then reinstalling the Intel drivers, but the problem remains.
I used Driver Sweeper, if that's any help, to get rid of all the 7770's drivers, I'm not sure if there's a utility to completely remove all the Intel HD drivers other than the uninstall that I ran already.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what else might be causing this?

The output from the 7770 when it's installed seems to be absolutely fine, and the system was solid and seemed to be fine running things last night, so it's not a crippling problem, but I'm just puzzled as to what it could be.
And frankly, I'd prefer that it all worked properly, even if I won't NEED to use the iGPU often, you never know when it might be essential!

Is it even remotely possible that it could be a hardware issue with the replacement motherboard? I'm guessing not since Safe Mode, and the initial Win7 startup graphics AREN'T corrupted, it's only once I get to the logon screen that it is.

Any ideas are much appreciated!

Thanks

When u install the 7770 u don't need to remove the intel drives,It should be ur default card.U can use ccleaner to clean the registry. Is a clean installation of windows possible? If yes then do that
