Basically the 780 ti is barely "beating" the 290x aftermarket with a 5% 50MHz oc. It's pretty close in quite a few games.

I think that was expected, the thing with the reference 780 Tis was they were capable of hitting 1200MHz on the reference cooler with decent noise levels.

$570 to $699/750 is not a fair comparison to you? Duh.

Even if they were the same price with the same cooler it still wouldn't be a fair comparison so I'm not sure what your issue is.

Let's not pretend the only thing you're buying is hardware with these cards.

Some people here seem to not value $$.

Checked Newegg lately? And this new Asus card, can it be bought yet?

Also you really dont seem to value money at all, if you are not willing to pay the extra for a non reference 780TI either. Since the performance/$ increases compared to the reference.

Its okay, we all know you love the NV drivers and this mythical G-Sync. Nothing will ever justify R290/X existence when there's the l33t OC 780 or its big bro 780 ti..

Right?

So, you and your kind aren't ever in the market (I was shocked you even went for 7950s lol!) for AMD so what they release makes zero impact on you so lets not pretend otherwise. But luckily, NV doesn't feel the same, without the R290 series you won't enjoy the much cheaper 780, obsolete Titan and "relatively cheap" 780ti.

Warning issued for inflammatory language and personal attack.

Where in your world is it expected that a $570 GPU to beat a $700 one? Here you are trashing on it because it doesn't meet your idiotic expectations.

Last time I checked, the price premium for the superclocked 780TI was only 20$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814487001

Thats roughly 12½% more performance for 20$. No wonder you dont want to use that to compare with.

And if we look further on Newegg, the 290X reference cost 629$.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161438

Easy to pick the 780TI SC for 90$ more.

Unless a miracle/disaster happens. That Asus card will not be 570$ anytime soon.

And if you wish to OC the card, as people like to sue as argument. The 780TI is even more value.

So you have no actual argument to justify the unrealistic price quote, the considerably more power consumed, the lower performance.. A performance level even with the OC it can't even reach. Nothing to contest the need for 1337mv for a 15% OC? You want to compare it to the reference 780 Ti but also want to ignore the fact that the reference 780 Ti was capable of hitting 1175+ itself for a 18.5 to 22% increase in gaming performance...

Instead you just want to go with the personal attacks?

Did you NOT read the review?

QUOTE"
"the core easily hit nearly 1.2GHz while the memory evened out at 6016MHz. The best part about this is there’s even more room there since fan speeds were at 60% (which was still surprisingly quiet). And yes, there's still more in the tank."

"By using it alongside the Performance Mode, frequencies could be pushed to the point where the R9 290X DirectCU II had no problem matching and in many situations beating NVIDIA’s mighty GTX 780 Ti."

Unrealistic pricing? Based on what, your inflated Newegg? Please bro, we've been over this before, even in your US of A, there are countless retailers and etailer which sells at MSRP (Amazon for one, thanks). What about the rest of the world, where 780s sell for nearly same price as R290X?

mV comparisons are invalid, what makes you think its equivalent between different architectures? A 15% OC with extra room for more as stated by the reviewers is fine.

And the personal callout is due your statement, we all know your history, you love everything NV, so you made that statement "Let's not pretend the only thing you're buying is hardware with these cards.", I just want to clarify, would this Asus R290X be a good deal IF the 780 was the same price at $570? Because you imply its not. Therefore, how can we argue with such bias?

Why in the world are you using newegg prices? Take a look at the previous page on this thread for a $560 290X at Amazon.com. $70 cheaper than the egg.

Easy, easy. If we take this route pickaxes come to mind.

If it's something someone wants to do it then it obviously should factor into their decision making.

Because Newegg has made a name for itself through its customer service.

All one of them. Who knows, perhaps now that mining is pure garbage right now the demand will drop for AMD products and with it the price of the cards?

Why are your intangibles better than others'?

You have plenty of alt coins to dig

"The ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II OC edition is often as fast or faster then a GeForce GTX 780 Ti and certainly faster then a Titan, whilst it is going to be priced a good chunk lower. So that in retrospect means (even at this price level) performance for money." - Guru3d.

Amazing, reviewers seem to appreciate $$.

That would be a product of your strawman.

And price gouging.

Amazon was doing it as well, but with LTC giving about $2 profit per day now I imagine the demand has dropped considerably since so many cards are now in stock on newegg.

I already dug up a lot of coins, I'm retired now and living well off my investment.

Just played your game. If you don't like to be answered with strawman arguments don't use them in first place.

Amazon and Newegg are just 2 shops. I've already shown you prices in Europe, Silverforce11 for Oceania and SE Asia. The price difference is there and the MSRP as well but that doesn't fit your agenda.

Price was for the US market, the only agenda it didn't fit are the non us people on a us based web site.

Utilize the price gouging to justify NVs cards prices but it's perfectly clear and transparent to everyone, that it's a temporary and limited gouge. Why is it that when it comes to the favorite team price is no object (titan/780 ti), yet using the price argument on AMD when it comes to an advantage.

Too many goalposts to shift but it's perfectly clear what's occurring.

Back to enjoy awaiting custom 290's to see what happens.

These 290x custom cards seem to put AMD back in the competitive seat which is great for consumers again, and the coin gyrations might ease the demand.

You're reading far, far to far into what I said. Which is probably why you think goal posts are shifting. You've created goal posts and they're moving on you based on the facts and the opinions of others.

Were you hoping for the second coming of Jesus by any chance?

Really, what exactly were your expectations? lol

Don't match all my expectations too. I expected better power efficiency than GK110 and even lower temps. Performance is now a thing that we can compare to 780Ti, because the Nvidia card averages 1000Mhz at gaming and ASUS card is averaging 1050Mhz at gaming(And AMD have a little less performance per core clock than 780Ti...).

Look what you quoted. I was talking about the 780 Ti GHz in my post, not the reference 780 Ti.

It doesn't matter if it's Newegg, TD, NCIX, prices are inflated everywhere in North America. $570 won't happen until the inflation stops.

$570 isn't cheap, not at all, and it sure isn't in a price bracket I'd associate with "price/perf" being a dominate factor in anyone's decision making unless they're trying to make pretend it's the $200 segment while ignoring the fact that it woefully fails in such a matrix compared to it.

The "contest" for 290xDCU "is" 780TiSC. 780Ghz/Classf/HOF/Lightning contest will arrive other day.

My are you both comparing custom 290X OC model to reference 780TI?

Because they have closer clockspeeds. We are not even discussing the price of the cards. Anyway the custom 780Tis will remain the better choice for the ones who want the best at all aspects(except price...).

HC tested the GTX 780 Ti Ghz and it just can't OC. Same happens with the EVGA SC. 2% and 4% gains respectively.

If you take in mind the OC potential of the 290X DCU the difference in performance is ~10% by HC numbers.
