I do...i have one of those $25 wahl clipper sets from walmart. I use a #2 on the back and sides first, then the top i finish off with a 6, and do some trimming of my own with scissors around my ears. I spent a good hour trying to blend it the first time, but successive attempts have only taken about 15 minutes. If your hair is slightly damp its a lot easier to judge the length so you don't miss any spots and get everything evened out. The big trick is to have two adjustable mirrors in close proximity so you can look into one and see the back of your head. I don't think I do a bad job. The part that seems to require the most dexterity is trimming the base of your head/top of your neck behind you and making it a straight or curved line instead of jagged .
