Probably going to wait until Friday afternoon to start playing Cyberpunk 2077.

(Ordered the PC version from Amazon, and got an awesome surprise. It's the GOG.com version..so no DRM..)

Saturday morning is going to suck.

(really hard choice. Play an awesome new PC game, or sleep...)

The reason I'm waiting until Friday afternoon, even though I'll have it installed probably tomorrow night...is I don't want to stay up too late.
(have to be at work by 8 AM on Friday..)

I'm going to install it on my 12 TB Western Digital USB 3.0 hard drive. How hard is it to get the game to work properly on an external drive?

(Rather than an internal SSD or hard drive...)
Would not recommend an enemy to play this game from an external HDD. Please try to get hold of an, at least 512gb nvme, or worst case smaller sata. There is a lot of data being shuffled around in this game!

I'm about to find out how my 1080ti handles it pretty soon at 1440p. I find it odd that their published requirements were very understated it seems.
How is it? gonna play it 1080ti 1080p on a 4770

lol.

damn it, hope it saved that profile FFS.

Nope it didn't. curses. ...and crashed again. Hmm, maybe I should update my AMD drivers...haven't done that since, er....2 years?

They seemed to be forced into dlss and capped at 30 FPS. This means at least 2 gens of GPUs until playable. Kind of sad, but it wil be on Steam sale by the at least.

Actually he said he was getting between 50-90 FPS on a G-Sync monitor.

But to record video he is working on for the channel they need a steady frame rate, and he went 30 FPS locked because he didn't want dips below 60 FPS to stutter.

Ok so my specs are as follows. i7 8700k, 32gbr ram, and the 1080ti playing at 3440x1440 full screen.

Game loads up and sets default graphics setting of Ultra. There's an nvidia driver available but I haven't installed it yet. I immediately go and turn off motion blur and film grain. Hate those two settings.

I started as Nomad so you start out in the desert. Initially, the first thing I notice is the game is beautiful graphics wise. It does seem a bit blurry on the sides and off in the distance but the graphics are really something.

But I'm very sad..max fps 35-40 and this is in the desert lol. Hovers in the 30's. I started to get nauseous and got a headache. The FOV is at 80 so I'm not sure if that is what is attributing to my headache.

Later there's an action scene and I'm down to 28 fps fluctuating up to the low 20's to mid 30's. Changing the graphics preset to High doesn't do much, maybe gets an additional 5 fps so instead of 30-38 fps non action scenes, I'm getting 40-45.

I think I need to wait for a hardware unboxed optimized settings video or maybe gamers nexus will do one. I cant really play it like this, making me dizzy lol.

Want to wait to see how it runs on consoles and I may just buy it for ps5 or the series X if performance there is better.

Who knows when I'll be able to update my rig at this time. Initial impressions, looks awesome, seems to be really immersive and interesting story wise, but you need a hell of a rig to play it seems like.

Any other 5700 XT users around? I think CP2077 is officially the hardest thing I've thrown at mine. Have to use Medium settings to get even 60-70 FPS at 1440p.

I really do want to play this game, but... I think I'd honestly rather wait until they tune the game some more, or I get a better GPU. Or both.

Looks like my GPU usage is being maxed out, so at least I know I'm not being bottlenecked by anything else.

Ran with default settings which was Ultra and RT, disabled DLSS, 2560x1600. 3090 with slight OC. Mirror scene was 34 fps, 45 fps when I got into the car outside the garage.

I have obviously not seen anything of the game except the very start yet, but 1440p with RT seems unrealistic at comfortable frame rates (60) judging from this experience. I hope Digital Foundry or someone who are good at deep dives comes out with some tweaked settings but its gonna take a lot to make this run at 60+ I think. DLSS removed a ton of detail when i briefly turned it on, and I would really like to avoid it anyway but I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this...

But yeah, seriously, even though I'm a bit (actually, very) disappointed by the performance requirements, this game looks insanely good. Like nothing I've seen before. That's the saving grace so far. Just crossing fingers for some tweaked settings with little noticeable quality reduction.

Game is off the charts in the looks department from the little time I had to check it out tonight. Incredibly demanding though. Unplayable at 4K on high/ultra if you want to use RT, without turning DLSS on. Wanted to play on the TV for HDR, which by the way is really well done in the game as well, but may go back to the 1440p monitor.

4K with ultra settings and rtx stuff on Ultra is about 40fps with DLSS quality and 50fps DLSS performance. Tried tweaking various settings to see what has the biggest performance impact, and largely it's obviously RTX.

The game is jaw dropping at 4K without DLSS on, but I'm getting about 35FPS, no RTX. Turn RTX on and it's about 15-20FPS. Looks unbelievably good though.

Finally walked some feet, did a cutscene, and spent like...15 minutes just scrutinizing the skills, haha.

I'm stoked about the Cold Blood/Assassins tree (defined by Cool attribute) + Reflexes attribute skills (handguns, Blades). Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. The Cold Blood stacking looks...like uh, an early gamebreaking build, haha. holy crap. Gonna focus on that, first.

I went 3 body, 5 Int, 5 Reflex 4 Tech 5 Cool. Gonna just roll with that (when body says "affects mele skills" it's really fists (and maybe blunt weapons). This game puts bladed weapons--so I'm guessing small and long--in the Cool and Reflex trees, basically. Not sure what your defaul mantis blade thingies count for, though. probably just your mele? maybe that is "fists" in this game? heh.

anyway, didn't putz with video settings yet. Just hoping my Vega doesn't die.

Pretty cool stuff so far. Went the street kid/brawler out of the gate... the melee was just too much fun to ignore. I'm sure I'll get into the ballistic weapons/mods as well.

Just a bit of feedback on my setup... GTX 1080 runs it alright @ 3440x1440 but certainly not anything to write home about. It's plenty playable though and looks killer so that's good.

Very impressive graphics, environment, character models and facial animiations/lip sync. So far I've been doing 4k ultra, RT ultra, DLSS Quality and getting between 40 and 50 fps. The intro was a very solid 50 fps while the club was closer to 40, but the lighting was off the charts. This makes Control feel like the tech demo before the real game came out. There you had a few characters on the screen and very static lighting while this thing has a lot more detail and stuff going on with a ton of different lighting effects. The other thing that is remarkable is that the frame time is nearly flat without any hitches are modulation. Something like AC: Valhalla is nearly 50ms and looks like an EKG while this game is 20ms.

As far as game and story. So far I can't complain. Starting as corpo, you are thrown in the muck and it only gets worse. The settings feel real and the conversations and actions feel very natural. Did the tutorial for combat and the gun action felt top notch, if not competitive with pure FPS multiplayer games. Even the hand to hand combat and sword play feels good.

BTW, large genitals isn't as impressive as I would have thought.

What considered alright? Because at 3440x1440 on my 1080ti I'm getting max 35-40 fps with the default graphics settings the game chooses for me.

Went Nomad with stats being heavy tech and cool. Hacking is always useful usually and the crit bonuses look good for cool.

Running on a 3080 maxed out at 4k + DLSS Performance mode — looks fantastic and runs reasonably well for a single player game. FPS could be 10 higher and it’d be perfect but it will do. Love the dystopian hellscape bladerunner vibe.

I very rarely keep defaults, especially when running older gear. I completely dumped a few of the visual effects like blur and chromatic and running minimal screen space reflections and occlusion. I'm probably around 35-45 fps @ maxed out pixels and texture quality; it's definitely not "good" but it'll get me by.

Ugh the performance looks horrendous. I was watching a stream where a dude couldn't even stay above 40 fps when driving with an R3 3100 + GTX 1650 Super at 720p low (and his gpu usage was pretty low). CDPR was saying the weaker i7-4790 would be enough to run this at 1080p60, high settings.

Seems like a really poorly optimized engine.

What can I expect on a RX480 at 1080p? Will it be able to handle the game on at least Medium settings?

Ugh look at this cpu bottleneck with an R3 3100 at 720p medium in the section starting at around the 2:33:20 mark.

I don't have any problem with a game pushing hardware but I have a problem with them telling us a cpu that will get nowhere close to 60 fps, namely, the i7-4790, is the recommended spec for running at high settings. A cpu only capable of locking to 30 fps should be considered more minimum spec than recommended spec.

Running i78700K @ 4.6, 32GB RAM, off of an SSD with an MSI R9 390x - pretty old card but haven't played a PC game since Battlefield 5. Really don't think I'm going to spend 500 bucks or more to play this game better because I'm not overpaying for a card that much, not like even that's available now. I'm on a 1440p monitor but I'm running it at 1080P with medium settings and it's been fine. Low 40's most of the time but very playable and nice to look at still.

Played 4 hours on normal difficulty, started off on the street kid life path. Really fun game. Haven't played an RPG in like 20 years, but I do love sci fi movies, shows and books. This plot is immersive - it seems eventually most conversation choices lead you to the same result, so nothing crazy there so far. But it's early yet so I'm guessing the game is setting the stage for a more open future. Got into some fights and I mostly beat the shit out of guys with guns with my fists, mashing buttons a bit. Combat feels pretty good. This ain't no FPS level of shooting, though good, but haven't had too much gunplay yet even. Learned how to braindance, that was pretty nifty. Overall can't wait to see how the game turns out, plot-wise, and I don't think I'm going to wait six months for a slight chance I can get something like an ATI 6800 for a reasonable price. It's a Covid winter, it's time to game now.

8700k+3080 @ DQHD (5120x1440) HDR600, defaults which is ultra with RTX and DLSS on. Its okay for a single player game. I haven't put a frame counter up on screen yet, but regularly below 60 anyways. Game is jaw dropping with RTX on. If this game won't sell you on ray tracing I'm not sure what will. Just noticed Nvidia dropped a new game ready driver. I'll try with that again tomorrow.

Thanks man ... 1080p might do it for you? I would have to get 2080 hardware cause 3080 or 6800 is nowhere around yet .. and that aint happening.
