lol yes, of course it's the controller... which works totally fine otherwise, PC or console. smh

the reason Cyberpunk 2077 got delayed sounds honest enough; that's what makes a developer great imo. they could have released it half-broken and buggy like every other developer does, or they could really try and outdo themselves. it's unfortunate that many other AAA developers, some who I'll give a pass due to greedy pubs, don't do this--at least not anymore.

Still don't love the name of the setting... Night City. At least make it "Knight City."

I'm having the opposite thought, playing with a Xbox One S controller. Half the time the targeting doesn't toggle and I'm just getting hit from behind. There also isn't any indication of what attacks can't be parried or blocked, at least from what i can tell. The quick dodge doesn't seem to want to work at times either... but w/e.

Needless to say I have no problem with tough combat, so long it works well. Looking forward to seeing what they do in Cyberpunk

Also, hoping for Easter eggs

melee 3rd person combat in 3d is such a crapshoot. I don't think I've even played a game like w3 where I didn't feel like I was fighting the camera the whole time. It'd be much easier to control from a isometric perspective at least. It just doesn't look as pretty.

Looking forward to this.

Delays are delays - they happen and I prefer them given how -Redacted- things have gotten with other 1/2 baked games prematurely released.

Profanity is not allowed in the tech and software forums.

That is actually a good news. Better delayed game than a broken mess. There are other new games to play: Doom Eternal, Dying Light 2

A little over a month left before release!

Ironic: who is taking some days off from work just to play this!

Job is too new for me to do something like that (3rd week starts tomorrow)...also, while taking a personal to play a game is a bit skeezy to me, I can't say that I haven't done that in the past, lol--for an MMORPG, which imo, makes more sense than a single-player game with a set world and no "Race" to anything.

...I did that for GW2, first Beta weekend, I think, and then the actual release, haha. I won't be doing that anymore, though.

but yes--stoked!

Now...I did instantly accrue 2 weeks of vacation to use only by the end of this year that I won't really be able to spend just over the holidays, so...eh....hmmm. shut up, damn it!

I don't get putting SSD Recommended under the minimum column. Isn't that what the Recommended column is for?

I'm a little surprised... those are remarkably gentle "recommended" specs for all the hooplah about CP2077 being the next Crysis system killer etc. with RTX on and all that good stuff.

As for taking a day off, I can't remember the last time I bought a game at full price, let alone took a day off for one. I'll be waiting for CDPR's inevitable ultimate grand slam edition with all the content for $5 three years from now.

CDPR is probably the only dev that I will buy on release day. I don't worry about broken, thin release content from them. They have a history of taking their releases seriously.

I don't think Witcher 3 has ever been $5 with all DLC, maybe ~$10 at the least with recent sales? It was a few years after its release, as well, when I picked up Witcher 2 for maybe $15. I know I grabbed a pre-release discount on Witcher 3 for about $15 off from GoG within the week before it was released, though, and I thought that was a great value.

I bought Witcher 3 six months after it was released for about $20. The DLCs came later in a bundle for $5 I believe.

As for the game, I will be building my new PC soon now that the specs are out (which I'm actually surprised I meet the minimum with this machine), but I still won't be playing it for at least six months to a year. Witcher 3 had a lot of issues on launch and even some nasty game-breaking bugs that still lingered for months after release, so I'm going to give it a while. CDPR are pretty good about fixing issues, but I'd rather wait a while, spend less money, and have a near-seamless experience than fight with the possibility of glitches and game-breaking bugs just so I can claim that I was one of the first to play it.

Since I will still be working from home when it releases, I will just probably block off my calendar. Will be curious to see how it plays on both my 3090 and 3080 at launch.

Considering some PC parts are still kind of pricey due to the pandemic, I think waiting is a solid strategy. I wouldn't want to "have" to build a new system anytime soon.

I have to say, I'm a bit surprised at the Cyberpunk specs. I expected more.

I'm guessing that they are trying to stress that while it will run, and is playable on a spinning drive, it is much better with a SSD.

Some games you hardly notice the difference between a SSD and a spinning platter after the initial load screen, other games it makes a huge difference.
Take Subnautica for example. At launch, on a SSD the game runs pretty well. It has some occasional stuttering when traveling long distances fast. But on a spinning drive it would stutter like crazy. To the point that, while average FPS was still in the acceptable levels the game felt terrible to play.

So who is at fault here? Is it game developers being lazy at engine development, or have games really become that advance we really need an SSD for non-loading performance?

We got so much VRAM/system ram available it baffles me that games don't take full advantage.

-That was a spot of hyperbole on my part, but the gist of it is I can always wait for the full game for a quarter of the price, and play at max settings with high FPS.

Heck, I have the Witcher 3 in my library (which I picked up for a fraction of the cost) which I have not played and I see the season pass going for $10 during sales now.

With a videocard upgrade I have planned around the corner I'll be able to play it at max settings at 100+ FPS and fully enjoy the game. The trade off being money saved is time spent waiting.

Yeah, they look very low--1060 6GB as recommended? the hell? And Zen 2 as the AMD recommended CPU? That doesn't make sense.

Either not much actual testing and/or thought went into that sheet, or there are some compromises to release on last gen consoles going on, effecting the initial PC release. ....I think they did do with with Witcher 3 and it was a while before a texture/feature pack was released for PC owners?

Oh I get what you're saying. That's what I do 90+% of the time. ....there are times, though, where it's not so much that I need it now, but that I respect the devs and appreciate their work that I actually prefer to pay full price.

I dunno...I've long felt somewhat guilty with this history of steam deals. Often feel like I'm stealing, haha.

I remember picking up BL1 and then a few years later, BL2, GotY editions for like $12-15 each, only a year or so after their respective releases. I got so much out of those games, at those prices, I really felt kinda bad. I decided to pick up TPS on release week, at full price as sort of my own personal "TY," and well...it definitely wasn't that great of a BL game, still very good imo, but because I got so much out of the first 2, I didn't really mind. :\

I think technically spinning rust will work, but you won't like it.

Indeed, the game will work on any crappy computer it is just going to be ugly. Also, this game was in development for 5 years way before Nvidia 3000s and Radeon 5000s series

CDPR has announced the game has "gone gold" which in today's industry means "it only has several critical bugs in it, but its playable and expect many GBs of patches".
Nonetheless, everyone will forgive them for any amount of bugs in the game if it turns out as great as people expect it to be. the colossal hype train is about to break all records.

From what I understand is it is a trade off for having little or no in-game loading screens, a sizeable map, and the ability to fit it in the memory space and architecture of a console. Basically games attempt to stream data from the HD to memory by guessing what you might do next. The faster the HD the more successful that will be because it can make up for mistakes faster.

Unfortunately, your money didn't go to Randy or any of the BL team since TPS was developed by 2K Australia instead of Gearbox.

Though I am with you that I prefer to support a developer who actually cares, but in this day, that list is pretty much just CDPR and a handful of indie teams.

Oh yeah, I know; I just convinced myself of that. Randy is kind of POS, though, so it's OK.
