D850EMV2 and D850EMVR SKU

I have a Gateway P4 2.53 ghz, 1ghz PC800 RDRAM, 60GB 7200 RPM computer. The motherboard is a D850EMV2. It does not support PC1066 or HT with its current BIOS (although the motherboard itself DOES support both). BUT, it says only D850EMVR SKUs will support PC1066 and HT. However, I have read/heard that Gateway prevents flashing with non-Gateway BIOSes. So my question is: Is it possible to reflash my motherboard's BIOS with a D850EMVR SKU so that I have support for PC1066 and HT?

However...no it will not work.
The minor differences between the bios'es is enough to render the board inoperable.
