I've been using an old version of alcohol for xp but i heard there was lots of compatibility issues with vista 64. is daemon tools still a viable alternative for alcohol?

also used dvd decrypter too. how does it work in vista? any similar easy type ripping tool?

No problems at all in Vista64 with the latest version of Alcohol 52% Free Edition:

Alcohol 52% Free Edition has the same functionality of Alcohol 120%, save fewer max virtual drives and the inability to burn the images that it creates.

DVD Decrypter is no longer being updated. If you are looking for DVD backup software, checkout AnyDVD, it is on sale now and is probably the way to go:

Alternatively, the free DVD Fab Decrypter (not from the same people as DVD Decrypter, afaik) will likely get the job done.

i got daemon tools installed, i may just try that for a bit. I really do like the interface of alcohol though, so i may try that too.

Okay. I think i've settled w/ using alcohol 52% for dvd drive emulation, IMGBURN for general burning. imgburn is very similar interface to dvddecrypter, but i guess it still doesn't do the dvd decrypting part. I am going to give dvdfabdecrypter a try next. thx for all your help in this thread

Am I the only one that just extracts the ISO's with ISOBuster and never bothers with mounting images?

There is no point. I would much rather have the files that I can run or open whatever I want from any computer, than to be stuck with an ISO that I have to mount and have a bunch of fake drives.
