And fortunately its the explosion that kills, so just a few feet away and your safe. Now if grenades were made of metal then it might be something to worry about.

He pulled the pin and then he didn't hold onto it securely enough to keep the safety lever from springing out.

<--- no 'nade experience.

Are you supposed to let that metal piece fly off before you throw or are you supposed to throw the thing immediately after the pin is pulled and let the metal piece fly off during flight?

So would that guy have just stood there till it blew up if his buddy didn't wrestle him away from the grenade? Dropping the grenade was dumb, standing there for a better look was moronic.

I think that was the safety you're supposed to hold down while pulling the pin out.

I haven't seen anything that stupid since we took a 30ft yacht out in a storm while on acid.

Do people understand, 'hit the deck' any longer?

Also, I never realized that a hand grenade is so weak. I've had M500s that were approximately that powerful.

...oh! and obviously proof of the non-existence of god. A just god would never have allowed either of those men to live.

5 meter kill radius
15 meter casualty radius

anyone within 15 meters of an unobstructed blast would be getting shrapnel removed.

edit: added the 2 letters in bold

I think that pond was quite deep with steep sides. The shrapnel would have gone into the walls of the pond and straight up in the air.

Sorry. After reading your statement I realized the mistake that I had made.

That should be an UNOBSTRUCTED blast.

I meant to show the only reason they are uninjured is because of the side of the pond. Their intelligence obviously wasn't a factor.
