Day without illegal immigrants??

Was this a california thing only? I somehow failed to notice anything out of the ordinary around here... economy didn't crumble and quite honestly it seemed like just another ordinary day.

Did i miss it?

It was everywhere.

I loved the SPIN that the press tried to put on it.

National news reported that NY had a "parade of many flags."

Denver had a greater turn out then expected.

Miami "protesters" stood out in the HOT SUN protesting ALL DAY LONG.

Hearing the last "report" made me laugh. Miami is having a cold front come through. It was 75 and partly cloudy all day. It's dry and there's a cool breeze blowing in from the North. I think I would RATHER be outside "protesting" then inside an office.

Its great to note the contrast in how the media spent exorbitant time covering this event compared to the dismal coverage of all the anti-war protests, especially the pre-Iraq war protest. Gee wonder why the *cough*corporate media*cough* would handle these situations differently

The illigal aliens (they aren't immigrants) had pundits on their side talking about how the economy would fall apart without them. When questioned about the costs the immigrants placed on the system through jails, education, and healthcare they stopped trying to argue rationally. Turns out the people who organized this rally were associated with Communist and Socialist groups... ouch.

I think the illegal immigrants wised up and decided not to protest. Why would they want to become citizens?

They would have to get auto insurance to go with thier shiny new drivers licenses
They might have to start paying for health insurance
They might start following the rules and not live 8 families to a house.

Yeah, Hollywood and the media must be very poor, since they're so liberal. The poor are just as likely to vote for the Republicans, since they have nothing going for them in life but Jesus.

The biggest SPIN was the way they refused to mention the word "Illegal". From CNN to FOXNews they all had some stupid banner graphic which made it seem like a day without immigrants with no mention of the word illegal. Well, hell-fvckin-o ? A day without immigrants no one would be here! This issue is not about the legal immigrants which we all ptetty much are, it's about the illegals!

SO when you see corporate media so united on an issue like this that's GOTTA raise some red flags to any rational thinking human being.

So in my enthusiam, I rolled over and went back to sleep.

No, I'm not Mexican, no I'm not an immigrant - either legal or ilegal,
I just hadn't had a day off in over 3 weeks, and I just hit the wall.
Planned to sleep in and go in a couple hours late, didn't make it though.

Here in seattle I didnt notice anything different except school was nice because there werent any mexican kids clogging the hallways (they always stand around instead of walking to their next class)

I live in Modesto, one of the cities targeted by Up Aztlan (or whatever they call themselves) for heavy demonstrating....Apparently, no one here got the message, because outside the hispanic part of town, very few people stayed away from their jobs...Everywhere I went, there were mexican immigrants (legal or illegal) doing their jobs. Drove up to Yosemite National Park, there were immigrants there, working and visiting...no signs of boycotts there...

Hey, these businesses who are so proud of shutting down for the boycotts...maybe they need some heavy-handed visits from INS...Let's start with sending their illegals home, and fining them $100K for each "undocumented worker" they have, or each one with questionable or obviously forged papers...Maybe even bring criminal charges against the ones doing the hiring, since they must be guilty of commiting fraud on the I-9 forms...
Let's take America back...Send the ILLEGALS packing...

Rupublicans had to pay benefits for a day.


The situation of taxes not being paid still not addressed and the a$$holes who employ these people still skate away for free in the name of capitolism.
