I'm fer it. Functionally, it would put me on Pacific time and therefore an hour further from corporate headquarters.

I looked at it, and it leaves a provision for states on permanent Standard time to stay there...
Is this garbage real? Keep it on standard time year round. So stupid.
Yes, this great idea does appear to be real, and Standard time can eat my whole ass.

Daylight savings time year round is so much better! It would be great to be able to do things in the evening most of the year (as it is, it is dark by the time I get home for ~5 months each year). Who would want the sun up before 5 AM in summer if we kept standard time year round?

Hell no.
I want more daylight year round when I get home from work. Not when I get up in the morning and go to work

100%

To be for standard time year round is only if you work like a graveyard shift. It makes no sense for most people as well as what is best for the economy and people's health.

More time to be outside after work, or go out and eat or to events, get exercise. So many positives.

Now to make me really happy, also switch the continental US to 2 time zones: East and West. But that is really stretching what people will be willing to consider. Virtually all live events would be at good hours for most people. Business clocks would overlap for most of the day. Less jet lag and fewer clock changes when travelling. Etc.

I don’t mind DST in the summer but I like my dark winter afternoons. Whatever, there’s still the exact same amount of light per day year round no matter what the clock says and my work schedule is flexible. Really doesn’t make a difference to me.

As someone who often works in to the evenings... yes to more sunlight later in the day year round, please.

I wonder how many rural Americans will complain about this to the people they elect to never listen to them...

How ever will you till and plant your fields, or milk your cows? By candlelight??? *scoffs*

I have zero cares about which they choose, just pick one and make sure the fucking computers keep up with the changes.
I wrote a "cool thing of the day" script that depended on server time. The problem was my webhost didn't necessarily update the server time in a timely fashion and the script would break twice a year. I ended up with two versions, one for DST and one for standard time, that I would have to manually swap out twice a year to keep it running.

This is why computing is supposed to use UTC.

Long time ago I had to code a time stamp function in Word VBA to insert GMT. Couldn’t figure out a way to calculate the time delta from our time zone to GMT during the 1 hour “fall back” so I literally just had it ask the user.

I always said, if Donald Trump ran his campaign on this one idea/promise alone, I'd vote for the SOB regardless of my politics, or his.
Hell. I'd vote for Adolf Hitler if he promised this, and was still alive.

When it comes to insanity, and DST was and is total insanity, changing ones clock(s) back and forth back and forth year after year over and over has been about the dumbest thing every devised by the US government. And it sure proved just how ass-backwards our government is, was, still is. Talk about mass Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Daylights Savings Time was the mother of all Obsessive Compulsive Disorder's.

I am soooooo glad to see this finally stopped in my lifetime. I just wish someone ANYONE would have ended DST long ago when I was 30 years younger, then.... I would have owned even more clocks.

a true bipartisan topic! stop the madness. DST fo eva!

Consider the sundials. They sew not, neither do they reap. Yet the obscenely grotesque DINO Senator from my home state, Patty Murray, is reverse cowgirling them to hell.

I think voting for Hitler or Trump solely to end DST is far more insane than observing DST.

The country tried this in 1974 and it was horrible. School children were walking to school or waiting for buses in the dark.

Despite wide support to make DST permanent, the danger to children and eventual disenchantment with the idea led most to rail against it.
