It's Daytona Speed Week again, and I'd curious who everyone's favorite is to win the 500 next week.

No matter how shitty NASCAR is, it's not as shitty as F1. "Turn left Bubba!!" is better than "No passing allowed Jacques!". That being said, it's like the difference between watching paint dry and watching grass grow.

I live 3.5 miles from DIS, color me not giving a crap since NASCAR went to "segmented races", ugh.

I think that was done to keep certain drivers (48) from sandbagging the entire race, "saving" their car, and then suddenly coming out of nowhere to take the lead with 10 laps to go. Now you need to be up front all race long to get the most points.

Assuming she doesn't wreck herself and/or someone else. But yeah, I thought she was retiring as well, aka realizing that she's not really all that talented.

Oh, Danica Patrick is a strong contender... for the 22nd place finish.

(Seriously, that's her average finish in the last three seasons.)

I don’t get how she keeps her seat...I don’t remember the last time she finished in the top five...

Don't be stupid, they turn right getting out of their pit stall.

I bet she makes a shitload of money with the calendars and other stuff. She'll probably be alright. Better than most models when they retire. She could start a small business, or maybe run her own race crew.

I think Stewart Haas Racing is happy to be rid of her, though PC demands that they can't say that.

OK, does any racing crew or any other sportsing team ever come out and publicly say "we are happy to get rid of this individual, because they suck"?

Why should such silence be interpreted under a different lens when this particular underperformer is off the team? Suddenly the silence exists only because she's a woman, and "that's the PC crowd keeping us from saying what we want!"

I know that she is not the best driver in NASCAR, but have you guys ever done a few laps on any speedway? I did the 60 lap driving school at Texas Motor Speedway, it was scary as hell and a total a blast. Doing laps at speeds of 150 mph+ in 6 car groups is a lot harder than you'd imagine. https://www.teamtexas.com/programs/

I don't think anyone is implying that it's easy; it's patently obvious that it's not. But among the class of people that can drive in that league, she is thoroughly mediocre. Quite bluntly, if she were a guy, she'd barely ever be mentioned.
