Hello friends
I have a Denon 3803 A/V receiver. It is rated at 110 watts/channel.
The display shows that the lowest volume is -80dB. What I would like
to know is how do I determine what db is what watt ? Does it mean that if
I turn up the volume till 0db, then the receiver's output is 110 watts ?
Thank you
Regards
Vivek

it's known that denon's wattage ratings aren't real-life specifications. i.e. under prime conditions you can hit 110 watt/channel, but realisticall you're looking at about 70-80.

Manufacturers wattage ratings are arbitrary at best.
Actual wattage can vary by an order of several percent.

But as glen stated I think you might need to figure out the voltage it's pushing at whatever volume.

No. The reference you are seeing is a reference to an electrical level. Watts is also a unit of measure of electrical energy. In order to describe loudness in terms of "how loud is something?" you need to refer to db spl. In order to determine the output wattage, there must be a referenced input level and a known output impedance. In those most famous words, your mileage may vary.
Those numbers are there to make the display do something.
Answer these questions from TFM. e.g. 110 watts rms w/ .775 v input @ 4 ohms output.... or similar.
edit: if you want to see when it's loud , you'll need an SPL meter. Get one from Radio Shack , it'll give you an idea of what's up.
