DDR isn't nearly as over priced as Rambus was when it came out.
Both are however tremendously over priced.

AMD760 + 266Mhz FSB Athlon + PC2100 DDR is the fastest AMD platform.

The P4 vs P3 debate aside, how well do you think that the P4 would perform paried with SDRAM? It would drop performance alot.

Both DDR and RDRAM have their places.

Personally I won't buy RDRAM just on princple becuase of the company. For the most part I'm pretty nuetral towards companies, like all the bad PR stuff nVidia had from Derek Perez and Diane something, none of that bothered me enough to stop me from buying nVidia cards (as if I have a choice now lol)....but Rambus Inc is getting ridiciulous.

two points against DDR:
1) it seems chip(sets) aren't designed that can make much advantage from it right now
2) there is a high number of pins and circuit traces therefore which will make SMP boards particularly expensive. at least that was what I was told.

do we have to look for a long pipeline hyper pumped chip like the P4 to really make use of the extra bandwidth?
