DDR PC2100 or PC2400

Hi all,

On my Soyo Dragon+ MB I currently have 2x256MB Corsair PC2400 DDR installed. (in slot 1&2).
I was told that PC2400 RAM would be better, but I am experiencing some annoying bugs with my system. Mind you I have this VIA board combined with a Geforce3 ti500 and an Audigy soundcard. A combination that leads to minor and major problems with more users than just me.

Could there be a chance that this PC2400 RAM is causing troubles. Does it use more power? Is it more sensitive? Do memory timings need adjustment?

I know this is a long shot, but if anyone has an opinion on the matter I'd be very interested to hear it. It just might spare me that one extra time of starting at square zero and format C:.

Just curious...how do you think the on-board sound compares to the Audigy?

Logically you should experience less issues with that kind of ram, because its specifications are better than for the standard PC2100.

I'm using the same RAM in my Dragon Plus with no issues at all, I'd look elsewhere for your problem.

Well, to be honest I can't hear any difference between the Audigy and the onboard sound. But then again, I don't use it for highly demanding audio-related things. Just went with the Audigy cause I needed a firewire port anyway, and the combination was appealing. (could have gone for just a IEEE 1394 controller as well)

I found it hard to believe that the RAM could cause the issues as it's pretty classy RAM (the price sure was as compared to non-branded PC2100 RAM) Just wanted to make sure as I these kind of details kind of go beyond my knowledge.

So I'm gonna try and get the bug out some other way.
