I came back from a local computer show yesterday... I bought an ASUS A7V133 motherboard with and AMD Thunderbird 850MHz (and of course a fan/heatsink). I can't get the system to boot. I hear everything whirl up, and the light on the motherboard lights up and all the fans connected to the motherboard are spinning. I cannot get anything to show up on screen and I hear no sound from the internal speaker. I tried unhooking and unplugging all components that aren't required to at least POST... (so essentially I have the processor, RAM, and video card plugged in). Nothing... all jumpers/DIP switches setting are set to auto... I even tried forcing everything, but nothing changed... the monitor LED is green when not plugged in and yellow when plugged in..(off or on)... any suggestions? I can't get anything up on the monitor and I get no beeps, even when removing the video card.
Following is a list of components that may be useful:
ASUS A7V133 motherboard
AMD Thunderbird 850MHz
Diamond Viper 330V (Riva 128zx w/4 MB RAM at 2X AGP) video card
RAM: 256 PC133 and 128 PC133
I even tried swapping the 256MB RAM with the 128MB RAM, which I know works. I also know the monitor and video card works, as I am using the to type this right now. I also attempted plugging the internal speaker plug into the motherboard the opposite way to ensure I didn't originally plug it in backwards. The RAM has been tested in BANK 1 and BANK 3. Also, the video card has a retention notch, so I tried removing the AGP tab protector. Any suggestions, questions, or comments are welcomed.
