...but yeah...

This.

That's like, a distinction without a difference. Terrorists masquerading as refugees to move freely across borders has been the true concern all along, not whether or not they originally came from Syria.

I don't think anyone is confusing them. The concern all along is our inability to easily distinguish so care must be taken. Trying to frame it as racism is... expected (sadly).

These terrorists clearly didn't attack France because of Bush or the Iraq War. There must have been a Youtube video somewhere that angered them. I am just waiting for Obama or Kerry to point out which one caused it. Maybe even Hillary will tell us.

Teh Mooslims!! Teh Mooslims are celebr.. celeb... happy about the attacks in Paris!!

Not.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...ebrating-terror-attacks-is-fake-a6737296.html

A Facebook video being widely shared that supposedly shows Muslims in London celebrating in the aftermath of the Paris terror attacks is fake, it has been shown.

The video, entitled “Muslims Around The World Celebrate The Islamic Victory In Paris France”, claims to show a large group of Muslim men cheering and waving Pakistani flags outside Tooting Broadway station in south London, following Isis’ statement claiming responsibility for the attacks.

The voice of a newsreader can be heard over the cheering, describing scenes of Friday's violence in which 129 people were killed in a wave of attacks.

It has since been revealed that the footage actually shows British Pakistanis celebrating a cricket victory during the 20/20 games in 2009.

OutHouse is up to his usual tricks I see.

Some people certainly do, but most of the people I know understand how easy it is for ISIS to slip into the flood of legit refugees, and that's their concern. Also, when reports come out of how many of the refugees are men of 'fighting age' and hearing stories of how some to the refugees are behaving in the host countries (look at Sweden) isn't helping their cause.

It's a legitimate concern, and as long as the resulting suggestion isn't along the lines of, "we'd better not take any refugees in, you know, just in case (but we still consider ourselves to be decent, respectable people who care about the plight of others)", I would be interested in hearing it.

http://news.yahoo.com/king-jordan-warns-world-war-against-humanity-161351407.html

"We are facing a third world war against humanity and this is what brings us all together," he told a press conference.
"This is a war, as I've said repeatedly, within Islam," he said, stressing the high number of Muslim victims of the Islamic State (IS) group.
Abdullah said groups such as IS "expose themselves daily as savage outlaws of religion, devoid of humanity, respecting no laws and no boundaries".
"So therefore we must act fast and holistically to tackle and respond to the interconnected threats whether it is in this region, Africa, Asia or in Europe," he said

On Sunday, Abdullah said fighting extremism was "our fight as Muslims against those who aim to turn our societies and future generations towards fanaticism and extremism".

Not that Bush isn't to blame for a lot of war in the ME, but my point is the blurred lines of Dem vs Rep.

Generation 2020 (the ones after Millennials born in 2000) have not known life without war in Afghanistan and most of the middle east, our former AND current Commander in Chief STILL has us there. Again, not seeing anything different.

I was born in 1980 and even I don't know what life is like without war in Afghanistan, though my perception of it has changed a lot since Rambo III.

...so you're saying what we need is rocket-tipped arrows, compound bows, and more aid to the Taliban?

Video showing 'London Muslims celebrating terror attacks' is fake

Looks like someone is out to cause trouble via false reporting. Although it seems "reporting" in this case is passing around an older video on facebook and giving it a new label.

Whether it's originally based on ignorance or maliciousness, such communication of fake information can be quite damning to community relations which are already stretched thin in such times.

Which brings me to the King of Jordan condemning terror attacks. A nice gesture where we don't often see them. Here it is a GOOD thing that the Arab Spring did not destroy Jordan the way it has other nations. It means there are some sensible people leading militaries and countries who aren't out for pure genocide the way our "democratic" Libya and Syria have become.
I think two major reasons are that Jordan has been simultaneously less supportive of terrorists and less of a dick to the good people in Jordan.

IMO it's not right to call it racism as IMO it's a whole bunch of biases wrapped together.

All I need to do is look at the number of people on these forums who evidently consider refugee / immigrant / muslim / terrorist / darkie to be interchangeable. Heck, even on the first page of this thread I came across 5 posts disparaging Islam or Muslims (so disparaging the beliefs of ~1.5 billion people based on the actions of ~0.3% of them). So I think you're being unbelievably naive when analysing peoples' opinions and motives.

IMO people who think we shouldn't take any refugees in should critically examine their own personal biases to ensure their reasoning for the "distinction without a difference" that I'm talking about. That's just aside from the fact that the US and UK are partly responsible for the destabilisation of the middle east, and so IMO we should do our bit to take care of some of the fallout.

France is a pretty segregated country when it comes to Muslims. They also ban things like wearing a Burka in public. It doesnt surprise me these guys who carried out the attack are nationals.

The scary thing to me is the first reaction people in the states want to do is act more like France. And start excluding Muslims from society. That is exactly how to create the same problems France has had for years.

Picture of a shield one of the police used at the theater in Paris.
Mind you, that shield is not the end all, beat all for self protection, especially when
you know there are probably explosives, and grenades awaiting.
A big salute to these brave FRENCH policemen, for if they had not stormed in, the
death toll, and carnage would have been far worse.

This. France's issues with their Muslim minority go back to when they left Algeria and the people who fled Algeria with the French. Turns out they were too French to stay in Algeria but were not accepted in France and ended up in highly segregated communities with poor economic prospects.

Its that feeling of powerlessness that makes them susceptible to radicalization.
