Not a bad ticket there, too bad it couldn't have been this time instead. I think the Democrats would be hard pressed to find 2 better ones. There's talk of a constitutional change so Arnie could run. That would play hell with the Kennedy's since he's married to a relative.

isn't Obama starting a 6-year senate term? if so, how would he start a campaign for president half way through that term? i think it's more realistic to see him running in 2012.

Obama has reached sky high popularity here in Illinois - and that's even months before the election.

I personally think he's got the tools for president. Reminds me of Clinton and definitely sounds better than Edwards did.

Edit: Keep in mind Illinois is not what it appears to be [a bastion of liberalism in the midwest]. Look here:

Basically, what keeps Illinois blue is Chicago [obvious], Davenport area, and the Saint Louis area. Everything, and everyone else, is Red or split.

The same places that voted for Bush voted for Obama.
His election is quite the accomplishment, even IF you're running against the carpetbagger known as Alan Keyes. [Shows where keyes was campaigning, too, in the most socially conservative portions of the state]

Obama is the Democratic superstar that may be good enough to bring the party back together. This year the party was united in opposition to Bush, if Obama ran with the popularity he has now he would no doubt be the candidate we were all looking for this year. When I see Obama I truly see a man with a hopeful and optimistic vision. Also, I would expect whoever ran against Obama, since he's black, to get unanimous support in the South.
