You're so screwed. You'll soon discover you need a quality table saw, a jointer, planer, drill press, several nail guns, air compressor, an entire arsenal of hand tools, and a track saw (how could I forget a track saw?). $10k will get you started.
Hey, I just ordered $100 worth of tools this morning!
But yeah, I know how deep this rabbit hole can/will go. Working in an office every day for 25+ years, I love building THINGS in my free time. I'm not very good at it (I rush everything) but I understand the concepts and the processes quite well I think.
The good news for my budget is that I can't do this in my basement. As
@snoopy7548 mentioned, dust is a major problem in our small house with forced air HVAC. So I'm more or less regulated to the garage for cutting. And our garage is a small, 1.5 detached so there's no heat or conditioned air at all. So, being in Wisconsin, that's not many serviceable months.
My next project I think is actually a work bench for the garage. I want a nice large flat surface to be able work on. I also would like to build a compact cart/table with left/right supports for my miter saw - but again, it sort of needs to be compact due to space constraints.
Oh! Amazon prime day... maybe time to buy some saw blades
