So I just got a 9800GTX+ to test out these physx demos...
And performance sucked in every one of nvidia's tech demos. While I know that The Great Kulu won't use the 9800GTX+ (it's gtx260/280 only), none of the other tech demos ran any better. This was on an e6300 cpu @ 2.6Ghz, so perhaps the cpu has a major effect?

Try the games bud.

Keys, would you say the current gen GTX 200 series for a single card setup is the minimum in keeping the games playable adding PhysX and keeping the details up?

My brother was in town and I sold him my 8800 GTS for him to SLI them, I'll get him to try some stuff to see if last gen SLI works nicely.

From the games I have tried thus far, using a 9800GTX+ on a mainstream system yielded decent playable results. So I would say no, the GT200 series is not the minimum for keeping games playable while running PhysX. Your results may vary depending on your platform, and resolutions you plan on gaming with. My best friend uses an 8800GTS 640 with a 3GHZ C2D and 1680x1050 (22" LCD) and reported playable framerates on all 3 currently available PhysX games. UT3, GRAW2, and Warmonger.

Don't own any of them.
Unless there's some demos I can try out?

Well, I guess I have warmonger.

Also, why about Cell Factor? It should work on nvidia cards, yes?

I think Cell Factor is coded strictly for PPU. Not CUDA based GPU PhysX.

I'm not sure if the UT3 levels can be used in a demo. Never tried.

How does the PCIe slot affects the gpu physx card? My mobo runs either 16x main slot and 2x second slot or 8x both. I dont to run my GTX280 at 16x but I am wondering if trying my 8800GT KO in the 2x slot is even worth it....any thoughts?

So without reading the entire thread, were any PPU vs GPU vs CPU beanchmarks run?

Ageia PPU's are dirt cheap now if people want hardware physX support, just wondered what level of GPU was equal to one.

I haven't received the PPU yet from another member here. He said it would take a few weeks, so it may come any day now.
But, from online benches, it seems the GPU PhysX had more legs than PPU.

I was just interested in where the PPU fell compared to the different GPU's (or if its weaker than all of them).
