Definition of Active Cooling???

i've seen everywhere that active cooling is needed if you want to raise the volts pretty high so i was wondering what would qualify as active cooling. would the 120mm exhaust fan located right next to the ram slots on the thermaltake tsunami and a zalman 7000 alcu which hovers above one of the dimm's be enough? if not what forms of active cooling could i pursue?

What kind of volts are you talking about? What you described probably wouldn't be considered "active cooling" on the ram. If you get over 3.2 volts, I'd really mount an 80mm fan directly above the ram to blow down on the sticks.

mmm... i think i'll stay at about 3.0 then. would that be alright?

on an unrelated note how hot should i let a venice cpu get? ite smart guardian that came with the dfi board good enough or do i need another temperature sensor?
