I'd have to rate the MyHD card higher than the HDTV Wonder basically because:

* it is hardware (MyHD) vs software (HDTV Wonder) with hardware being far less intensive demands on your system.

* Native Transport stream capture (MyHD) vs Proprietary real-time encoding (HDTV Wonder) ATI's VCR format is easy to transcode to friendly full resolution MPEG-2, but still requires an extra step and requires more resources.

* Display connectivety. MyHD can output directly to my HD display bypassing the PCI bus using VGA (DVI with the upgraded card and optional daughter card) HDTV Wonder relies on the video card for output.

* Mature Product MyHD has been around for years, HDTV Wonder was just recently released.

Doesn't mean HDTV Wonder is bad..its not, very good actually for a new product and it has a far more reasonable price. ATI has a much better bundle including a better remote, an antenna that actually works. Features like MMC support, timeshifting and burn to media are also not available with MyHD. HDTV Wonder will undoubtably get better with time, I'm not sure I could say the same about MyHD, but right now, IMO, the MyHD is the superior product even at the higher price.

A while back AVSForum was a really popular place to read up on capture cards as well. It still might be, I'm not sure.

Im looking for the best HDTV tuner card with PVR like functions (Pause, record, rewind). MyHD doesnt support this correct? Are there any other alternatives to ATI's HDTV Wonder?

Thanks for this thread it is great, the MyHD card looks great, but is that statement about not having PVR functionality is that true. If that is true, does that mean it can't do the TIVO thing, like pause live TV and rewind it?

Where do the very many (AGP) A300 through A400 TDH model Leadtek Winfast TV Tuners plus 3D VGA graphics adapters fit in? They include all of the NV Series 3 GPU's and the first Series 4 GPU. There apparently have also been NV Series 2 - based Tuners as well.

Thanks! I've been trying to figure out what card I want for a little while, and now am leaning towards the PVR-250.

Do any of the Leadtek solutions mentioned above feature hardware encoding? Of do you have to step up to an Hauppauge model?

There's a lot missing actually. I'm using ATI eHome Wonder cards now, and paired with SageTV or MCE 2005, they are quite good hardware encoder cards, and I got one with FM for ~$70 and one without for $48 (refurbed) They are also half-height (xcept no low bracket). There are some nice cards out now NVTV has dual tuners on a single PCB, and ATI's theater 550 chip should be showing up on some 3rd party cards soon.

If you're buying the PVR-150, make sure you know whether or not you want the MCE version or not. The MCE version runs under $70 while the regular version runs closer to $90. The MCE version does not include a remote or much software since it's designed to be used with a MCE PC. It'll run on XP though if you just need the card. I made the mistake of buying the MCE when I wanted the full version and had to cancel my order.

The Deluxe version uses an 8-bit video decoder. The Expert version uses a 10-bit decoder (higher quality picture).

Thanks. Is there any reason to go with the leadtek expert over the hauppauge pvr 150? other than that the 150 is slightly more expensive? why get software over hardware? The 150 DOES come with software that lets you schedule and record, so there is no added software to buy.

Software to schedule and record? Shouldn't that be standard? I'm new to tv tuners. I've only had my ancient ati radeon aiw ddr. OLD. However, it can record anytime and comes with a TV GUIDE software that can retrieve the current tv schedule and I can set it to record programs, FREE.

Do any of the tv tuner packages have this capability, for free?

The Leadtek has a great PVR that lets you connect to a website (www.titantv.com) and click and schedule which shows to record. It is free! You can only do this from the machine that has the TV-card in it -- the website interacts directly with the PVR software.

Apparently TitanTV.com has enabled remote scheduling (meaning you could program your PVR at home from Grandma's computer) but I don't know if the Leadtek PVR software has it enabled. I moved to Europe 6 months ago and can no longer use my PVR so I don't keep up on it anymore.

Hope this helps.

What about VIVO cards ?

If you have satelite or digital cable, the tuner is actually useless.
