I'll be the first one to say wrong forum, though we can probably attribute it to your bad eyesight

I would definitely get a second opinion. I rarely trust doctors because I've been doing computer tech support long enough to know how little most tech support people know. Doctors are just wetware tech support right Do some research on the net too (google groups?). Don't live with it, someone out there can help you!

1) set the refresh rate on your monitor to above 75Hz.
Below &5Hz will cause eye strain if viewed for prolonged periods.

2) Stay 18" from the screen at least.
getting closer will mess with your vision.

3)Corning Optics has developed all sorts of special glasses like the serengetti series
which is aimed at the sporting marrket they take into account refraction of light
so they may develop different lenses for driving ,fishing and other activities.
They may have quality info on their site that will allow you to ask better questions and
choose the correct type of doctor to evaluate your condition.
