been too long, the only thing you can do it ask the collectors to pay it down, I think that'd work...but if it's on there, it's on there.

EDIT : I just wanted to say I am not financial guru, but from what I hear this is the case...so take what I say lightly? ha

So I have to pay for Dell's shady business practices that landed them a court date last year?

No, you have to pay for sending the laptop back in a huff and never following up to make sure things were settled.

I think the main problem is you had an outstanding balance at the time you "returned" the laptop. If you had followed up afterwards, you may have gotten somewhere, but just randomly mailing something back with a note is not going to get you anything, except an account that is in arrears.

an aside, Dell business has been absolutely dreadful lately to me.
i have been on the phone for two hours with them this over an image drum kit and one measly desktop.
they have really fallen off.

basicaly what everyone else is saying..I am not saying what Dell did is right, but you are kind of SOL for waiting so long...you could try taking them to court??

and sending the laptop in without 'telling' dell...

How typical, it's never your fault. Did you get a RMA# before you randomly sent a product you didn't like back to the vendor? No? Then it's your fault. They to have a GE course named Common Sense & Real Life in every college, 'cause apparently nobody has it these days.

ALWAYS pay when obligated. This is going to cause some headache for you, that I am sure of. You violated the finance contract by not paying, (Im sure there was no clause for sending it back if you were unhappy with the service.)

If they can document this, the collection will stay. If they lost your contract, etc, the bureaus will remove it after a challenge.

Is it hurting your middle score? Did it report to all 3 bureaus? Is Fannie/Freddie requiring you to pay it off in the AU findings?

I admitted what I did was stupid...but I included in the letter ALL case #'s I had open with them. I never received another bill from them and never heard ANYTHING about it until recently.

The credit report did its job for the mortgage bank. You are not reliable, cant figure out how to forward postal mail or have a stable email/dell account, send things back without tracking, and have no idea what your credit score is.

I sure would not trust you to own a home.

Here's what I would do if I were you:
1. Ride my bicycle over to Dell.
2. Show them your receipt, drivers license, birth certificate, and last 3 months pay stubs.
3. Think to yourself "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?" when they refuse to speak with you.
4. Cause a huge scene (make sure there are at least 20 people around) and debate about the weather.
5. While being thrown out, scream "I will NEVER step foot in a GameStop again". That will confuse them and give you more time to make your case.
6. Feel pissed and cheated even thought it was your fault.
7. Go to Blockbuster and rent a shitty movie and bitch to the minimum wage worker there who will agree with you just to get you to leave.
8. Ride your bicycle BACK to Dell, yell and scream and scare some kids.
9. Go back to Blockbuster to talk to your new "friend".
10. PROFIT!

And who the fuck did you send it to? You think they just open random boxes sent to addresses and read a bunch of shit stuffed inside?
