Dell 2001FP and Movies?

How good is the 2001fp for watching movies?
Is it better than the 1901fp?

Well, it's bigger, and has a lower response time, so I would say yes.

How good is the color and clarity of the picture when watching movies?

I just bought my 2001fp for the express purpose of watching dvd movies (I have a plextor 708a dvd combo burner on that comp)

First off the movies are excellent to watch and view at any res IMO. There is NO ghosting or any kind of blurring on fast motion video. Images are VERY crisp and clear. on one movie menus and the intro I had noticed showed some video blotchiness (looked like alot of guassian niose added) but didnt extend to the movie itself. (the movie was "The Order" with Heath Ledger and Shannyn Sossamon btw)

Secondly, darks and lights are represented exceptionally well. Alot of other LCDS I had viewed movies on showed what appeared to be alot of noise/blotches in the dark areas esp.

I am viewing all this using the digital dvi port with the OEM cable that came with the monitor. The card is an MSI Ti4200 128 meg Geforce. And having had a phillips home dvd player run thru the video in on that same card and viewing dvds on a 19" phillips 109S using power vcr II, I can honestly say that the Dell 2001fp and power dvd 5 put the latter to shame....

if you haven't got it yet...get it..you wont be disappointed....

Review for the 2001FP here at Anandtech. Movie performance seems to be ho-hum as with most LCDs.
