the 6000 consists of the following :

2 motherboard configurations, one for the integrated video, the other for the 64 or 128 x300 ati chip.

Is also dual channel compatible.

battery life with the x300 has been clocked at 5+ hours

x300 3d graphics are about on par with a desktop running an ati 9200se.

if you're just looking for a basic replacement for your desktop that's what this is. the 9300 is more of a " medium core gamer" desktop replacement.

battery life depends on which battery we use right? 5+ hours, is that with the standard or the upgrade?

with the integrated video (intel 900) people are finding battery life of around 6 hours. even with the x300 128 meg card some users are finding battery life over 4 hours.

? I have the 6000 with the integrated graphics and no way will it do 6 hours on the standard battery. I get a little over 3 with wifi on and screen brightness maxed.

any body getting high pitch noise when using a mouse for scrolling. A couple posters on notebook fourms says their 700m, 9300, etc does this too. My 6000d does also at times. Its noticeable when the ac plus is out compared to being plug in.

Pecel, it's the same with every hard drive. Also, Dell has a recovery partition (I think) that will take up another couple gigs.

Dell uses that missing 6 gigs of space for a recovery partition called PC restore by symantec. If for some reason we need to walk you through reinstalling windows it normally takes a few hours. with the pc restore, it's a ghost image of the factory set OS that takes about 6 to 15 minutes to bring your computer back to what you got when you first hit the power button on the system.

HOWEVER, it's very fragile. if you reinstall windows from the cd, you're going to lose the ability to use the pc restore. in fact, anything that modifys the MBR will have you lose the PC restore partition. I find a bootable ghost dvd works just as well if you want to get rid of the 6 gig partition and make your own ghost image instead.

I think it's 3 hours with the standard 6 cell and around 5-6 hours with the extended 9 cell.
