I think I'll stick with Dell. They build good machines that do the job. They do damn good in the server market too. The only thing is I have to compete with a beige box,and only hobbiests are buying those now. There is no profit on trying to run a pc store anymore.. The big companies own the market now. You can't compete unless you sell amptron puke with all in one mobos. yech!:disgust:

That, my friend, I agree with. I've seen more than one mom&pop PC shop go out of business or change their focus because of Dell, Compaq, et al.

Those commericals are funny, "Steven" seems like the typical kid who says "dude" every other sentance. If you buy a DELL because a commercial told you too, i have a nice bridge to sell too. Never liked DELL boxes, too small inside and mb isnt upgradeable. Maybe we'll see talking cows from Gateway next "Got Gateway?".

These commercials seem really off target. I believe these commercials shoot for the lower end of the computer demographic. It would seem commercials hitting the 35 - 60 market would be better served. Younger people rarely have large amounts of credit and the older generations seem to be the next great place to sell computers.

But you should hear about this "thing" in 2-3 months, it wont completley turn the market around, but there's going to be a larer market share for smaller companies. Now whetehr or not this can bring them to a state of profitability, has yet to be seen.

I'm sure you probably meant that as a joke, but that would probably be one of the most effective marketing campaigns Gateway coudl do. Got milk, affiliated with cows, marketed out the backside by the dairy farmers group (or something of that sort) got gateway. Customer will notice the correlation between the two in their head, and that'll make em remember it.

Man, there already are Gateway ads with the cow talking.... I don't know if that's a recent thing (can't remember), but I've at least seen the one where the guy gives the cow in his trailer a laptop with a DVD drive to watch a movie on while he eats lunch. Weak!
