Hey everyone --
First off, I've asked these questions on the Dell forums and while a few people have responded, nobody seems to have any idea why I'm having these two annoying problems. Strange, since this laptop is just a clean re-format (to get rid of all the junk Dell puts on here).
Here are the annoyances
1. The default contrast setting for this WXUGA monitor is terrible. You know the blue box the surrounds the gmail login? You can barely see it. So I go to Desktop Right Click, Properties, Settings, Advanced, Colors and then adjust the contrast. All is cool until I reboot. It doesn't remember these settings, even if I save them under a profile. There is no video settings loading. The only thing loading in my systray is Norton Antivirus and my wireless connection. I can't believe nobody on the Dell forums knew of an easy way to resolve this. I'm running the latest Dell video drivers on my ATI Radeo x300.
2. I can't figure out where to completely disable the system beep sound. Whenever I receive a new email in Mozilla Thunderbird, there is a very LOUD system beep. Whenever I'm done burning a DVD, a loud system BEEP. I've looked in BIOS and found nothing.
Ideas anyone? Thanks in advance for even reading this.
