Dell Inspiron 9300 Coming Out Soon?!?

Hi all,

I just put in an order 2 days ago for an i9200 and I just learned that the i9300 is around the corner (later this month). Does anyone have any information about this new laptop? Supposedly it features a 533 mhz bus, new mobo chipset and a 6800 go. If that is the case then I'd rather just cancel my i9200 and get this newer model.

January 19 is the launch date for the new Centrino platform (533 Bus Pentium M, 915 series chipset, 2915ABG wireless). If you don't need the notebook right away it may be to your advantage to cancel the order and wait.

If it's anything like the D610, I'd wait.

It'll have 400 or 533 DDR2 memory, Intel GMA 900 or ATI Mobility X300 graphics (this is for the D610, I'm sure the 9300 will have better graphics choices), 4 usb ports and PC Card/USB express support.

Also has the 915GM or 915PM chipset with the 533 Dothan processor

Went ahead and canceled my order. Figure it's better to hold off and get the 9300 even if I have to pay a few hundred more for it. Hopefully the wait for this new laptop won't be too long.

The 9200 currently goes for $1400 - $1800 depending on options, and has been out for less then 3 months in the US.

With the 9300 including:
533MHz Pentium M along with newer 915 chipset,
256MB nvidia GeforceFX 6800 Go, PCI-Express
DDR2 memory
+ whatever,
You can rest assured that it won't be sold for under $2000 for a while.
Parts cost is still way to high for these items.
More than likely, it will be a $800 to $1000 premium over the current 9200 price range.
Perhaps by winter 2005 the 9200's may be all gone, and then teh 9300 may drop below $2000.

I paid $2158 for the i9200 so I'm guessing the 9300 will maybe be $200-400 over it in price which is fine with me.
