Dell Optiplex 755

So i've recently received a brand new Dell Optiplex 755, Core 2 Duo, 2GB of RAM, Dual Gigabit NICs for a work Disaster Recover PC. This PC will act as a backup firewall, using MS ISA 2004, however whenever i attempt to build this PC with a Server 2003 Volume License CD, it BSOD's upon the starting windows section of the build...every time.

I've done my due diligence and swapped out components (everything except the MoBo), run diagnostics, all hardware is fine, as i'm able to push an image using Ghost and build from a generic Service Pack 2 CD, without issue. The only issue i run into is when i attempt to build from any Volume License CD.

My question is, since the Volume License is for Server 2003 and is older, does anyone agree that i may be running into this issue because of out dated drivers on the Server 2003 License CD?

Any thoughts would be appreciated....thank you!

It's likely. Have you tried other operating systems?

I've tried my License CD for 2000 as well, same issue, exact same point of the installation. Is there a way to manually add the drivers, similar to an F6 option during the install?

I have no experience with Server, so I'll bow out here. I just mentioned other OS for troubleshooting purposes. Specifically, if it installed, say, XP with no problems, then it likely is a Server specific problem. As for fixing it if that's the case, I don't know.

Try this in bios settings:
Drives > SATA Operation > Legacy (by default it's on RAID Autodetect/AHCI)

I think the install cd would have to be rebuilt with a modified bootstrap &/or dvd rom driver (i.e. gcdrom.sys) for it to work in SATA mode.
