The comedian Dennis Miller is being talked about, apparently seriously, as a Republican candidate for a statewide post. Three Republican strategists interviewed in the past week have said they want to draft Miller into politics. One, a prominent Republican operative and Schwarzenegger aide who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that once the recall election is over, he plans to recruit Miller to challenge Barbara Boxer for her U.S. Senate seat next year.

Yeah, I used to think Miller was funny until he became a complete stoolie for the Bush administration and Fox News. What a joke. Him, not his material. I guess neocons needed their version of Al Franken. To each his own.

Jesus, why are the conservatives suddenly so fascinated with celebrity? Miller is a comedian for crying out loud. I think they are so giddy over having a Hollywood type with a little bit of smarts in their camp they have gone wild with the idea. It's like the dems going crazy over Clark because he's a liberal military man.

getting someone who already has generally postive press time is a good thing. if that someone is structurally from the other side's camp, that is even better.

I don't know that they'd want that. If the last 3 years are any indication Dennis Miller can 180 on everything. Up until 9/11 he was a big leftie and ripped the GOP and Bush as much as anyone. Now he's completely in bed with them.
