Open your eyes. I'd put marijuana use among 18-22 year olds (college age) around 65%. 22-30 maybe 45% only because of drug screenings at work. I meet all sorts of people every week who smoke....but they won't talk about it unless they think you do too!

Why would you wonder if people that smoke occasionally are lying? Marijuana is less addictive than alcohol or cigarettes by a wide margin. In fact, addiction to marijuana is a behavioral addiction, not a chemical addiction, like alcohol or nicotine. If you've ever seen an alcoholic in detox going through delirium tremens, you'd understand what I'm talking about. I've even heard it suggested (by MDs and PhDs in my field) that detoxing from alcoholism is more difficult and more dangerous than heroin detox.

an ounce is quite a large amount for personal use in my opinion. for comparison's sake, i believe the amount you are allowed to walk around with in Amsterdam is 30 grams - an oz. is 28.

interestingly enough, small time dealers usually deal in ounces - they get their ounce and sling 3 quarters or 6 eighths which essentially enables them to smoke for free. so this decision would in theory enable these small dealers to operate without fear of getting busted for possession as long as they were within 1 oz on their person at all times.

i support the decision but i think they should have max'd the personal amount to 10 grams instead of 28 - this would limit the dealing possibilities a little more.

although, i'm wondering where all this weed is going to some from. if they still plan on keeping trafficking illegal, they're going to have their hands full.
