Denver legalizes marijuana!

I think it would be always a good idea for people to re-examine what they know and what they think they know about this plant. Wikepedia has a bunch of info.

There are other articles as well. Anyone with a brain can realize the massive social hypocrisy with legalizing alcohol but not weed. It basically comes down to control, booze is harder to produce, easier to regulate, and easy to detect for intoxication levels. Cannabis is easy to produce, theferoe impossible to regulate and controlling intoxication becomes a problem. It has no really harmful effects on most people, your liver won't rot away, and you can't OD on the stuff. I've never touched it, and never will. But I know lots of people who have for many years and they never went nuts, and never developed smokers coughs from smoking every day since before I was born.

It really is all about who is in control in this country, and if you read history, the driving force that got it bannedin the US in the first place was special interests like Dupont. It's all in wikepedia. It's just another thing that makes us look nuts to many european countries.

State and Federal laws take precedent over any municipal ordinance.

Take for instance the California medical use laws for MJ. It is legal to use MJ in California if you have a doctors prescription, yet there have been arrests of these individuals under Federal laws.

in most cases like this, won't the local police turn their heads now if people have less than 1 ounce of pot? i suppose sherrifs and state police, FBI, etc would still bust folks, but it seems like weed is going to be a new sort of traffic law, where it is up to the officer's discretion as to whether to "Ticket" the offender

Actually, I find that beneficial. No arguing and fuging around with "point Oh Oh" arguments. If you smoke and drive, you get ticketed. And the bloodshot eyes and smell are such dead giveaways.

I havent read the article, but the state versus local issue aside, sounds like they only passed a (small amount) possession is ok law. They havent addressed where they're gonna legally get it (ie trafficking).

Ok so you're allowed to have an ounce or less but where do you get it from? Grow it yourself? How can you grow an ounce or less of MJ? Get it from your regular dealer? Well, chances are he's got a lot more than an ounce to distribute. . .It makes no sense, this law.

Care to back that up? I know for a fact that statement is not always true. You would be a fool to think otherwise. I dont recall seeing any of my friends growing up driving while they were too stoned. I do recall seeing many drive drunk.

Open your eyes. I'd put marijuana use among 18-22 year olds (college age) around 65%. 22-30 maybe 45% only because of drug screenings at work. I meet all sorts of people every week who smoke....but they won't talk about it unless they think you do too!

you have similar or higher numbers for those in HS as well, i know many professionals IE doctors, laywers, busniess men and such that smoke casually in their own home when they want to, some of you would be simply amazed at the nmber of people that smoke and those that do, hell you prob know people that smoke you just dont know it

Yep. Filled with people who drink alcohol. And take medicine (headache, pain relief, prescriptions, etc.).

Oh, and sometimes smoke/eat a plant.
