Desktop icons lost

I am using Windows 8 consumer preview. but today when i startrd my laptop I am shocked to see no icon on desktop.

All Desktop icons and my user files etc are lost. How to get them back.

It sounds like you may have a virus. I work for an IT company and we've seen several instances in the past few weeks with these Fake HDD viruses. One of the things they do often is hide all your files. Run malwarebytes, an antivirus scanner and a rootkit scanner. Then once you're clean, grab unhide over at bleepingcomputer.com Run that and you'll have your files and icons back.
