If you're using that Nvidia card in you sig then just go to restricted drivers and enable the nvidia drivers. I don't have Ubuntu on right now but it's under Administration if I remember right.

That's my desktop. I'm running Ubuntu on my laptop with integrated ATI graphics.

Good Envy and you can use that program to update nvidia/ATI graphics drivers. It's custom designed for ubuntu and works pretty well. A word of warning however, there seems to be more of a hastle handling 3D stuff (compiz/beryl -> compiz fusion) with ATI cards than nvidia cards.

I had fairly good luck following the instructions for ATI drivers on ubuntuguide.org

I've gotten the 200M working, that was on 6.10 Edgy tho, haven't tried putting Feisty on that laptop.

I don't have a ATI card, but many beryl/compiz tutorials will tell you how to install the fglrx drivers over the opensource ati ones. A lot of time, you can find them with a google search (worse case, go to the ubuntu forums).

Ubuntu guide for ATI. As a last resort, I'd recommend envy: LINK. I've used it back in its early days when it was only a nvidia installer, and it worked for 6.10, and should work for feisty.

Last night I tried installing Feisty with the regular install CD on my desktop system in my sig and wound up with a black screen instead of GUI. I found a tutorial using the alternative CD in text mode install then getting the newest fglrx drivers. That got me to the desktop but I had a ton of graphical errors. I then found Envy and it worked like a charm.

Rather standard issue KDE install on OpenSuse 10.2. Added the Kima kicker app at the top, transparent taskbar and wireless monitor at the right. Whenever the Gentoo install finishes up compiling (started Tuesday afternoon, maybe KDE was a bad choice) on my Thinkpad 380z, I'll post screenshots of that.
