It runs great, very smooth.
I'm enjoying the game quite a bit and I've only played it for about an hour.
I'm only on the first real "level", but finding different paths if nice and the stealth aspect isn't overdone or cheesy like in some other games.
I'm sure I will be playing this until late tonight.

Isn't that a good thing though? Would you rather get lost and spend hours trying to find the correct vent to sneak through? That kind of kills the momentum of the game from a story-telling point of view.
'swonderful. i only said i hated hacking; it probably saved me a few hours of wandering around like i did in the first one
-- i am on the last boss.

I play DE for exploring and storyline, combat I don't mind since I mix that up with stealth and killing.

I pre-ordered the game and have the automatic unlocking device, not tried it yet.

I don't mind hacking its just a bit time consuming which can be an issue for some people.
After you do it for about the 400th time, the novelty wears off

so, thinking back to all of the cries and ranting and rage 3 or so months ago that this games was so clearly ruined by consolitis or whatever...would you guys now say that the pre-rage is founded?

The previous videos that were released were really and truly horrible, showing mostly third-person pov, one-button take-downs, and cutscenes. The complaints were absolutely warranted based on those videos alone. The original trailer released @ E3 last year still looks ridiculous.

That said, I am impressed by the overall sentiment of the game since release, and do want to play it now. Thankfully I will be able to turn off the horrible object glow, and I can always choose not to punch through walls to kill someone. If I can also disable the immersion-breaking-for-dramatic-effect-POV for takedowns it'll be even better.

I do the hacking for XP as well since every bit adds up,I also take regular breaks so I don't get tired or stressed out with continuous play .

I'm less than 2 hours in so far but this game has grabbed and drawn me in like nothing else I've played since V:TM Bloodlines.

The atmosphere is phenomenal-great music is a big part of that
shooting and cover mechanics are just about perfect so far
Graphics look fantastic and the "near-future" art style is beautifully done.

This is absolutely the best quality game I've played so far this year. Don't be deterred by the people nitpicking the cut scenes (which are noticeably lower quality, but I don't find them distracting at all) or load times (fixed in the new patch). You do not want to miss this one.

Agreed. I've just done the first mission and what I see tells me that this game is truly deserving of the name "Deus Ex". Hell it might even surpass the first one in some aspects. The attention to detail and depth of the game universe far surpasses what's typical in video games - it's almost like a cyberpunk novel, and the music is very fitting. The game play can be challenging (depending on how you play) and feels rewarding. I'm very pleasantly surprised; haven't been this excited about a game in a long while.

Thankfully pretty much all the on screen stuff can be turned off in options. This is a game saver IMO. Object glow, on-screen prompts, direction indicators can all be set to off in gameplay options.

The first person POV stuff that happens is there, but I think this is done well enough that I like it. Jumping off roofs has a very cool POV, typhon is nice, and even take downs I haven't gotten sick of yet. I don't think i'll ever get sick of jumping a couple stories high into three guards with the stun ability and then tossing off a typhoon on em.

i finished it from Thursday evening through just now - about four 4-5 hour sessions.

It's a good game; unfortunately the story telegraphs everything as you go so there were no surprises for me as i used to be a serious Sci-Fi fan.

i'd score it maybe just under a 9/10. i won't replay it. i can't imagine redoing it all over or that things will fundamentally change (except strategy) if i pick pure stealth (other than it taking a lot longer). Playing as a Tank made it really easy - i think a couple of the bosses would be difficult stealthy.

And don't forget to watch after the credits (once will do)

Like everybody else here, I'm really enjoying the game so far. My only complaints are pretty much visual related. Really low res textures most places, except for people's clothes for some reason. And the animations during game engine cutscenes are downright awful. For all the time they seem to have put in the books, emails, and newspapers they didn't put any at all into the animations.

But it's not really that big of a deal. The game itself is great and very easy to get lost in. I've only just left the office building to wander the streets and I feel I've already gotten several quality hours of gaming from scouring the office for emails and such. I was able to hack into or sneak into pretty much every corner to find out some good stuff about all of the characters.

Then once I got out into the streets I've found several different back roads into the police station. Also found some underground routes full of gang members that aren't too happy to see augmented folks. It's quite apparent that the augmented/pure human fight is a huge deal and the violence isn't just affecting the corporations behind it, but normal civilians. And since you were put into the role of an augmented person not by your choice, it makes all of the hate towards you feel even worse. It's very well done as far as story and immersion goes.

Second 7 hour day. Only just made it to China (if that's a spoiler, I don't know what to say...).

So I finally found out (10 hours in) that you can get extra experience, credits and viruses when you hack. Have to say this is one of the better hacking systems compared to the others like System Shock 2 (Pipe Dreams?) and Fallout (word match - I don't feel like thinking that hard man!). Kind of pissed at all the experience I missed by going straight for the main node.

I've been exploring every nook and cranny. Being a bit of an experience whore, especially by using non-lethal for a good 90% of the time, and hand to hand for at least 50% - hasn't gotten old yet, especially with the double takedowns.

The problem with the mini-game is that there is absolutely no variety. Each minigame looks and plays just like the one before it and will look and play like the next one.

Your post has got me to realize that the game is a bit unbalanced for mele players that max XP out by completing all of the side quests and who go for praxis kits and typhoon ammo. i realize (now) that i could have skipped *every* single mini-game and all of the SQs and still completed it - only facing a higher level of NPC with a harder difficulty factor. So the devs allow you a lot of freedom in your style of play without being constrained by the game's mechanics.

i also felt that the Typhoon is a bit overbalanced as a weapon; it can be overused to take out multiple enemies as ammo is easy to get and you are invulnerable from the instant you initiate the sequence.

Looking back at the walkthroughs, i don't see anything that i missed (plus a few undocumented areas and finds). i like games where you don't need a walkthrough. i have been nitpicking it. It's a very well produced game. And it is a great sequel to the original and even ties in IW.

Minor issues are with the voice acting at a couple of points where the choices sounded very different from usual. One button takedowns are a minus but there was decent variety to make it a decent experience. And they are a very powerful attack that can satisfy the lethal and non-lethal player.

The bosses? WtH is that? However, i liked them and it does pay tribute (also) to System Shock 2.

Anyone else finish it?

Having just finished it, which took a while, i wanna say at least 30 hours, is not longer, I dod however do i think every side quest and explored close to everything, i backtracked many a time to go hack open a door or safe i couldn't when i was there originally. the other day i spent hours doing nothing but running around, didn't advance the story at all. seriously in some areas i would clear out a path to where i had to go, Save and then turn around and kill the people on the path i didn't take to see if i missed everything

The Typhoon is a bit overpowered but TBH the only time i really used it was on boss fights, and then it was only the 2nd one as i didn't have it at the first and the 3rd
you cant use it

i did everything with a combo of stealth and shooting people in the face with a silenced weapon. Upgrading the machine pistol to its max with a silencer and lazer dot makes it a killing machine

the game is def a 9/10 for me, i really want to go back and play the first 2 now as its been years since ive played them

the soundtrack is also great

this is what my aug tree looked like at the end

as for the after the credit part, the did leave that wide open, you save them and then nothing else continue on game over. I for 1 and down for a #4

The only consolitis that has annoyed me so far is how slowly the map scrolls. It seems like it was designed for an analog stick and it's irritatingly slow to drag around with the mouse.

Is one 2GB 6950 good enough to run at 1920x1200 with a 2500k / 4.5ghz / 8GB?

lol it runs smoothly on my 9800 GT at 1920x1200 with everything maxed out (though admittedly it won't let me go over medium with some settings, and ofc no DX11)

watching the gameplay trailer on steam does the console interface differ that much from the PC one or is it something they created for that vid?

Having a really good time with this game. I needed a few tries to kill the first boss. I think it's annoying that you can't just walk into the room and start to fight him without entering into a cutscene. The problem with the cutscene is it throws you off and puts you into a state where you can't prepare. It would have preferred it if you could walk into the room and decide if you want to hide from him, go stealth, etc.

I am seeing a lot of talk of the typhoon. Am I the only who has never used it? I get the ammo and I just drop it to clear inventory room because I was like "what is this? I've never seen this." Later I discover it in my augmentation menu. Oops. Is it worth buying? In what situation would you use it? If you are suddenly surrounded by a bunch of bad guys? Does that ever happen?

Last thing - I have the addon for the sniper rifle that is supposed to improve accuracy by telling you where to lead the shot. I am not sure how to use it. I activate it by holding down E and then I get a large circle with a small circle attached. Am I supposed to aim at the center of the large circle or the small one? Or am I supposed to try to superimpose the two and get them concentric?

?

at the end of the game it sort of does, there are some spots where you can drop right into the middle of a group and launch it and kill everyone, provided you have the fall distance aug

as i said before i only really used it on the 2nd boss fight

you can use it to take out larger robots and such as well if you need to do taht

Hmm maybe the next time I get two Praxis points I'll get the typhoon.

Question - are you guys using any sort of inventory drop system? Like going back to your apartment and dropping extra ammo or weapons you don't feel you need right now, then later going back and picking them up?

I got Typhoon just before the second boss fight.. and decided to fully upgrade it.

I may never use it again unless I truly get stuck in a situation with lots of enemies around me that I have to eliminate.

I do think it is a bit overpowered, but I'm treating it like a last resort attack.

The Typhoon is about as bad a spoiler as the unstoppable cube in Doom III (use us x6 - kill). If you have a lot of energy points you can plow through just about anything. i think the devs made it overpowered.
:whiste:

As for the cutscenes, *SAVE* immediately before a boss battle (and if you hate replays) save regularly during the battle. Maybe that is why i finished it in about 20 hours and i got a lot of exploration done and all but two of the SQs.

Treat it like a RPG. You pause the game ANYTIME and access the inventory. - change weapons without reloading. And those 10-sided dice just keep clicking in your favor.

Is the typhoon an aug or a weapon you find on a mission? I just go through the first boss battle (Barrett)...should I have it by now?
