I finished this game up a few days ago after 28 hours. I tried to read every email and pocket secretary throughout the game. I liked the attention to detail in the emails with coworkers bickering and giving subtle connections to he first game. Being a huge fan of the original, overall I thought it was pretty good good but not awesome.

The first three quarters of the game are solid but after that it really falls flat on its face.
After you get to Megan, going through Panchea, and ultimately the lame boss fight and picking the endings. I mean you spend the entire game putting together this huge conspiracy trying to save Megan, and you get to her and you get hardly any dialog. Okay, thanks for nothing.

Then you get to Panchea and you get to fight.... zombies? Are you kidding me. The last boss fight was weak and picking the ending through buttons is weaker.

I think the last few parts of the game felt rushed and could have been better. I read that they had to eliminate two city hubs during development and that would have been welcomed. I think its like a 7.5/10 type game. I really have no desire to replay it any time soon.

Doing stealth play thru I want to go back and do a kill them all play style.

This game has amazing art direction and music. I can appreciate the time spent getting these things right.

Looking at a game like fo3 and I see failure in the art direction compared to what we see here.

I guess that explains it, but yea the last act of the game felt rushed and just uninspiring.

Seriously. You finally rescue her, and she's gone with virtually no follow up. The last level did suck. They made such a HUGE level, and just loaded it with zombies. Slow zombies too.

I think (or hope) that the DLC/expansion pack thing gives a more satisfying conclusion to the thing. Count me as another one slightly let down by the final act. Oh, and :

Did they really have to make your ex-gf or whatever into such a dumb b*tch? I mean for real, she's a vapid piece of crap that was just incredibly irritating as a character

That advertising is an interesting issue.

Take newspapers. We pay a small fraction of their cost; they are subsidized by ads.

Would we prefer to pay $5.00 for the same content without ads? Or pay 50 cents for a paper with them?

People say 'we can ignore the ads'. Yet, the fact is, if the ads didn't pay for themselves by increased purchases, they wouldn't be there as an option.

Fact is, almost everyone will pay for the ad version for lower cost.

Kindle on Amazon recently did this by offering a version of the device with ads for a lower cost. Because that's a newer medium - people aren't used to ads on a device like that - consumers will be less likely to buy it, but enough probably will it'll sell a lot.

Magazines, similar, only a few don't have the ads - tiny political magazines, art periodicals.

On television, we have a choice; commercial television with ads for 'free', or a few premium channels without commercial sponsors, more famously HBO. Funny enough, the ads on commercial television cost a lot more per minute than the shows. Also funny enough, HBO tends to win the most awards for quality - but their model hasn't overtaken commercial television (though the industry is probably changing because of DVRs skipping ads).

In a game like this, people resent the ads because they're new and intrusive.

But they also provide a good amount of money to the developer, giving them competitive advantage - for development budget or lowering the price or profit.

So unless consumers boycott an ad product, there are pressures for their competition to also get the money. They're less than in an industry where people 'choose one product' - but they're there. I wonder if consumers won't accept the ads more as they realize the 'benefit' of someone else paying part of the cost of the product, as they do with other sponsored products. Problem for this game is, consumers aren't getting the benefit. This isn't $9.99, in exchange for the ads.

Ive much the same impression of HR. At start, the game was engaging and a wonderful exp. for me; recalling the original. Almost all of the game up to the "lame" end cut boss, had me hooked in at least exploring the possibilities posed in the game world. Then of course I simply faded back into blackops...at least zombies are in context.

Speaking of Megan...

She's actually a pretty unpleasant person in some ways. She either totally naive or simply doesn't care about the implications of her research. If you wait until after the credits there's a small audio cutscene between her and Bob Page and she doesn't exactly come across very well there either. It appears she also has a major input into the creation of the Denton brothers.

She seems awfully friendly with the guy that killed you 6 months before. And yeah , all she cares about is finishing what she started.

Archetypal (sp?) super smart, scientist character that cares nothing but her work. Think Indiana Jones and why he wouldn't blow up the ark near the end of the first movie.

Same. But still, who cares? The loading screens are lightning fast and who the hell stares at the loading screen anyway?

Overreact more, please!

I'd possibly have an issue with the ads if
-I still played the game
-they weren't just pasted onto loading screens that I don't pay attention to. I usually give my eyes a rest during loading screens of games so like 90% of advertising it has no effect on me.

hmm...this game is pretty easy on normal difficulty so far. I've done everything by stealth/non-lethal methods, and i don't even really have any stealth augs. The hardest part is figuring out the enemy's movement patterns. then exploit that and take him down while the other guy isn't looking.

most of my attacks have been non-lethal takedowns.

Nik mentioned their loading screens were lightning fast...you must have a much better PC than me.

They are pretty fast on my machine (2500K, HD6850, 8GB, no SSD) so it wouldn't have bothered me if they were present while I was playing (once it was patched).

True, but Indiana always seemed to think one step ahead of the others, he might have blown the ark if there was no other way to go through, instead he seemed to know exactly what was about to happen. He was always clever about the odds.

Yea the Star Wars ad just popped out of nowhere in my loading screens last night. Never seen it before, wtf lol

And it's very small and low-res that I can't even tell what Star Wars product they are promoting
