Watching the GOP's interrogation of Comey live. This is good for Clinton, mainly because Comey comes across as highly credible.

I new it would be, max damage potential was reached with Comey's press conference, everything Comey has to put a finer point on in light of no charges being filed just works that back.

It's amazing. Now the GOP want to interrogate Comey. It's an investigation of an investigation of an investigation at this point.

These morons just don't know when to quit and it always bites them in the ass. They are probably too scared of the wrath of the crazies to be able to act strategically.

In their heavily gerrymandered districts, being re-elected means just cock blocking primary challengers from the further reaches of right wing madness. It's bad for their compatriots in competitive districts but they've created as few as possible of those. Just another expression of FYGM, of every man for himself.

Exactly. They may mine a few soundbites out of it to use as ammunition. But they already had a few from the press conference. All this hearing is doing is highlighting Comey's integrity. IMO it's a backfire for the GOP. They should have just mined the press conference and used the soundbites for super-PAC ads or whatever. They aren't going to get anything more out of it by conducting hearings. But the GOP seems to be addicted to these hearings. They seem to consider them as their main function in Congress.

The attack vector is now apparent. Republicans are trying to demonstrate that Clinton lied under oath during the Benghazi hearings. Comey clearly articulated his rationale for not recommending indictment, but Gowdy is articulating a reasonable argument of circumstantial evidence as indicative of intent.

Mmmm... Back biting! They trusted him to do the right thing until the right thing wasn't what they wanted at all.

It's all different now.

Up next, big splashy headlines about the FBI investigated the HOR investigation of Benghazi.

Because they asked now, not back then. String it out as long as possible. More FUD!

Yeah, sorry, no.

Edit: Also, Clinton camp has been live tweeting responses to Comey:

I've been reading tweets for the past hour. Comey seems to be the only one acting with integrity and transparency throughout this whole affair. He is offering sound bytes that don't exactly paint Clinton in the best light but he is also calling the Republican witch hunters out on their BS.

Maybe he should be running for President.

Here's another portion of crow..

Comey on Patraeus

“In that case, you had vast quantities of highly classified information … not only shared with someone without authority to have it, but we found it in a search warrant, hidden under the insulation in his attic, and then he lied to us about it during the investigation,” Comey said. “So you have obstruction of justice. You have intentional misconduct. And a vast quantity of classified information. He admitted it was the wrong thing to do.

Professional people, unlike politicians, get where they are to some real degree because of mental clarity and high functioning reasoning ability. The notion that an argument proffered by Gowdy would appear reasonable to the majority of such minds is just a fabrication of your addled conservative mental state. It's simply delusional.

I interpreted Gowdy's comments as asserting that a former First Lady, Senator and SoS should be held to a higher standard given an expectation of her having an elevated awareness around implications in her decision making.

I find the line of questions challenging Comey's integrity absolutely out of line.

How do some of these House Members get elected:

Q by one of Reps: Do you think Clinton's attorneys deleted emails in the manner they deleted them so no one could recover them in an attempt to hide things:

Comey: That's kind of circular. You delete things so no-one can see them.

Re-examine the charges against whistle-blowers....

Based on Comey's statements

vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct; or indications of disloyalty to the United States; or efforts to obstruct justice.

Whistle-blowers also do not expose classified information in the manner described above.

Apply the same standards across the board.

No charges for Clinton... drop the charges against Snowden.

LOL, the e-mails marked classified on HRC's server totaled three, they were improperly marked, and weren't actually classified in the first place. TY Rep Cummings and everyone who insisted Comey testify today.

AAAHHH HA HA. The Republicans had a rickety old boat called the Clinton email scandal. It wasn't much, but it was afloat. They just went down into the cabin and drilled some holes in the hull.

That's really all the questions from Repubs just in case you hadn't noticed.

Overwhelming & reason defying Hillary hate is a litmus test for Repubs. Comey fails.

In another time they'd be trying Hillary as a witch using the same rules of evidence they'd like to have today where accusation & conviction are the same thing.

Sadly, all this hearing did was to give further guidance to the GOP as to how they can drag this out even further.
I fully expect them to launch a criminal investigation of Clinton lying under oath. The faithful will swallow it, of course, and won't for a second, think that it's part of a political which hunt.

They can launch whatever they want, the question is who will take them seriously, since they've cried Wolf so many times. And of course there is the small problem of their nominee being Trump.
