yup raid 1.5 for ata drives only. and I guess the raid controller doesnt sit on the pci bus. I dont use raid so I dunno lol. 1 drive is noisy enuff already, I would go crazy w/ 2 + drives in my rig!

I would still recomend the board. It's quirks with the AIW 9700pro 3.2 cat drivers is probably ATI's fault as the 3.1s work just fine. I'm typing on this board currently right now and have had it for about a week with no problems. I hope the cat 3.3 drivers work with this board.

If you can find Ram that will run an FSB of 255 please let me know cause I'd like to buy some. I've got two Corsair XMS3500 sticks and the max they are stable at is 235MHZ that gives me a quad pumped 960MHZ front side bus on my 3.0 gig and its now running at 3520! a litlle voltage on the mem and cpu was required.

Sorry about the empty post.

I have this board but can't get it to run stable set for DDR400, I've tried Kingston Hyper x pc3500 and corsair twinx pc3200LL, Hyper x runs better then the corsair, I found that by removing the heat sinks both types of memory worked better then with the heat sinks installed, but still not 100% stable, with heat sinks windows keeps blue screening and crashing and I can't even run any benchmarks, without heatsinks I can run benchmarks at 400 mhz. both types of memory work great set at 320 mhz. At present I'm running the processor at 3,300 mhz with fsb at 880 mhz and mem at 320 mhz. Benchmark numbers with a Geforce FX 5800 ultra are as follows. 3Dmark2001se=17694 and 3Dmark03=5825. I think I'm going to return the board and get the Epox when it becomes available.

I have the DFI875 with a 2.4 / 533 FSB P4. It overclocks to 150 nicely with DDR400 RAM. I have not tried higher as it seems that most of the 2.4s won't go much above 150. I may try it next week when I return from my current business trip.

I have the ATI Radeon 9500 Pro and use the 3.2 drivers. Everything is wonderfully stable.

For those that don't know, there is a beta bios available from DFI, but it is well hidden. You get to it by going to the FAQ section. From there, click on the question about a bios that corrects the problem with the 800 FSB P4. That takes you to a page with the bios. I don't know if it changes anything else like raising FSB clock limits as I have not tried the bios since I don't have an 800 FSB CPU.

Overall, I like the board a lot. I have not benchmarked it, but I would love to see some official comparison tests. I wonder why Anand is not jumping on it.

Good luck to all,
Ira

You can now get a beta bios for increased overclocking as well. Get to it through the FAQs at the DFI site.

Try OCZ EL PC 3500 DDR 433. Read this review.

Has anyone else noticed that the pin configuration for the USB ports on this board are labeled differently than the normal USB configuration.

Normally:

Vcc Dy- Dy+ G NC

Vcc Dx- Dx+ G

DFI Pro875:

D- G Vcc D+ G

Vcc D+ Key D- Key

So is the manual wrong? I'm guessing it is because the USB ports DFI supplies for mounting in the front panel use the standard pinout configuration.

For the record (and so that there is a tidy solution to this issue for others reading this forum), here is the reply I just received from DFI:

Hello Shawn:

It seems that our manual was mis-printed on that portion. I've check the voltage for each pin they correspond to the standard layouts. So the onboard USB is compliant to the normal usb pin & layout assignments. Please let me know if you should have further questions on this.

Best,
Joe

Thanks, Joe! You made my day! And thanks for the quick response.

I have the 875 lanparty with the 3500 c2 memory and have had problems with blue screens and loaded the new bios which started showing my cpu overheating.I've got the swifttech big daddy and a thermaltake smartfan2.HHHhhmmmmm! The bios did let me chose between sata, ata and pci card.
the 800 mhz processors need the new bios to work by what the dfi site said. I'm runing the 3.06 800mhz.The raid seem to work fine (I have 2 seagate sata and 2 wd ata100).I'm expecting some more memory from new egg tommorrow ( http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?image=20-145-420-02.JPG).
When the new bios comes out i think it will fix things a little.Personally my wife has the p4c800 which works fine(xms256x2twinx) Which is what i should have gotten. The gigabyte board looks promising but i don't need scsi onboard.

Happy to report that the new ATI 3.4 cat drivers for my AIW 9700pro work great with this board. Again, I am running a P4B 2.4Ghz @ 2.7ghz and everything is nice and stable. I am using OCZ PC3200 CAS2.0 and have no stability issues.

Its good to see some positive comments bouat this board because in a few weeks, I may be ordering this one.

I think tomshardware.com will be having this in Part 2 of the 875P Motherboard roundup, so keep an eye for it.

I have the DFI PRO875 and all i can say is that its really good. I used to have a gigabyte 8IEXP and this is a whole lot better because i can run >DDR266. Also, all the extras keeps from having extra PCI cards installed. The no firewire is kinda sucky though. I'm running a 2.4@533mhz OC'ed to 2.8ghz and running two cheapo DDR400 chips from frys no problem. Also, i got a ti4200 128mb installed.

I love this mobo, especially the way it looks inside my clear case
Heres a link if you guys would like to check it out::
DFI875 PRO picture

I've gotten a 2nd UV tube for it since i took the picture, but that gives a good picture of what it looks like

Hope it helps
Happy computing

With my top pick, the Soyo SY-P4I875P, a no-show so far, the DFI is currently my second choice (just wish it had firewire).

My absolute requirements are ICH5R, 2 on-board serial ports, Intel CSA LAN and heatsink-only northbridge cooling. The only other matching motherboard seems to be the Biostar P4TCA Pro, which has poor placement of the ATX power connector (I use the Zalman video card heatsink) and is expensive with WiFi lan - which I don't need on a desktop... I can get other close matches to my requirements if I settle for a northbridge fan, or somehow live with one serial port (in my biz I really need two), but for now the DFI looks good.

I prefer stability over an extra percent of speed. Also looks like I can get it pretty cheap locally, might just give up waiting for the Soyo and pop for the LanParty....

Are we going to see an Anandtech.com review on thsi within a week or two? I'm looking forward to one from either anandtech.com tomshardware.com or xbitlabs.com in no particular order.
