Sounds like the launch isn't too far off either... This board will be the crucial part of my build:

Vista Ultimate
ASUS Vento 3600 Black
ASUS PW201

E6600
DFI RD600
2 x 1GB OCZ ATI Xfire DDR2 800 4-4-4-12
2 x RAID-0'd SATA drives (haven't decided high speed or high capacity yet)
2 x PX-755SA SATA (no legacy connections for meh) DVD+/-RWs
1 x R600
X-Fi Platinum
Enermax Liberty 500W (upgrading supply when I get 2nd R600)

useless, expensive, overpriced memory with a different heatspreader hehe

DFI has alot riding on the RD600 IMO. Ever since the C19 lackluster performance incident (nVidia's fault not DFI) DFI has been a nonplayer lately. DFI knows people are expecting big things from them. If RD600 proves to be no better than the 570 and 680i mobos then they are going to have some problems. Lot of people waiting and thinking DFI is gonna come out with a 500+fsb overclocking monster. If they deliver all is well. If they fail, well... lost revenue for sure since they held back for so long and potential loss future revenue because many people will go back to something like the P5B for overclocking Godliness. It wont bankrupt them or anything but they wont look too good in consumer's eyes I'm thinking. Its an interesting situation for DFI. I'm curious to see what happens.

i wonder why DFI didn't bother creating a lanparty version of the P965 chipset. Those overclock like theres no tomorrow and with a DFI touch it could prolly reach 500 FSB.
I just hope there ain't anymore delays.its either this or badaxe 2.

A guy over at XS hit 517fsb with a Striker Extreme and a E6600. He used a 7 multiplier though. Still not bad. 517 x 7 = 3619

I am getting it for close to 230$ US, so I dont see any draw backs and it's some 4-4-4-12 DDR2-800 from two brand names I can trust .

Gary - given that you have seen the final production hardware, could you very briefly comment on whether the L775 socket is still located very high up on the PCB (whereby the upper 2 mounting holes are extremely close to the edge - as shown in photo at the below link)?

I know this is of concern to those of us who are potential buyers of this board but are commited to using large heatsinks/compact cases or are buying parts in anticipation of a new build once the motherboard is released and so to whom the socket placement is of some importance.

I second this request. Will a Zalman 7700/9500/9700/Tuniq Tower hit my PSU or has the board been changed?

Also, do you know of the Asus RD600 board the I talked about that someone linked a few pages back?

What case do you have? I'm planing on useing a Lian-Li V2000 wich has some space above the MB mount. This way I'll be able to fit my Tuniq Tower in no mater what. Be careful about your case choice and it should all be fine.

Probably doesn't use Micron D9 ICs though so overclocking will be poor if that is the case.

If this is true, it should be a good alternative if the DFI board isn't in shops in time for my build.

That picture looks more or less the same as the one Gary posted in the OP. The slot arrangement is excellent but I don't like the location of the 8-pin power connector (although to be fair, a lot of boards put it over there these days). If you have the power supply at the bottom of the motherboard like I do, you have to snake the cable across most of the board to get it in that corner.

Assuming the board O/C well, with the clean layout around the socket, this will be the board for phase change.

Tony of OCZ @ XS mentioned it being out soon. In the news section.

Bandwith is a bit lower than i680 and 975x but it's more flexible. Hopefully I can get 900mhz with 4-3-2-1 timings with acceptable voltage on my fatbodies.

I'm glad DFI went with silent cooling. I never liked their fans. Hopefully its going to be a great mobo.

We cannot post pics due to the NDA but that is the production level board, one of several different designs.

Tell Tony he needs to run Crucial Memory on the board. Just kidding, until the production BIOS is released from Oskar then it is anyone's guess as to the true memory bandwidth of the chipset (regardless of memory brand).

I bought some of that ATI Crossfire memory, same stuff you see on the DFI RD600 spy pics on the net. I hope this will run well...?

And Gary, can you confirm the ASUS RD600 existence or is it a myth? I thought they dropped RD600 like a hot potato.. but it seems they've regained interest and according to the Inq, should be launching it before the end of the week?
