Then simply ignore the thread. It's not like somebody is forcing you to read and click on the link.....

Truely there is no point to say "hey look at what I have" and then have nothing to say about the picture.

I know I'm not the only one who came in here thinking maybe there was something interesting to be said, yet nothing.

They say, A picture is worth a thousand words...

For looking at the photos, you can deduce quite a few things about this boards.

1.) It uses Digital PWM..
2.) Its got a Major layout problem..

Which board are you talking about ATI rev. board or the DFI? and what major layout problem?

Cheers

I am talking about the DFI one. Basically, you will have hard time using large air cooler in anything other than than a Full tower case becuase any 120mm heat sink will over hang the edge of the board by quite abit. (In a mid-tower case, the PSU will be in the way).

No Mobo maker has every put there LGA 775 socket so close to the edge.

That would be nice for all people planning for this board as i have some concerns about case compatability from looking at the photos.

BTW, on the topic of RD600, know anything about moves from its competitors? maybe a ROG board from ASUS, ECS , abit??

As for my concerns about compatability. now illustrated below.
1.) The CPU area is very close to the top edge of the boards. (Photo1)
2.) That area in intel's specs is 95mm x 95mm(Photo2)
3.) There will be significant overhangs over the top of the board.(Photo3)

Yeah, that socket location will cause problems for some people. It's a good thing I have about an inch of clearance between the top of the motherboard and the power supply cage (and the PSU is at the bottom anyway). My Big Typhoon will overhang the board by about 12.5mm at the top, but it should still fit fine.

i love the lian-li cases but there 1 flaw on majority is the psu hangs over the cpu restricting the hsf size.

well, according to that 2nd link ..xfire is only 8x, 8x.

is this just a limitation of xfire then?

and that 1st link...doesn't seem to show any stats...?

According to vr-zone

[ATi RD600 hits 520MHz FSB, NVIDIA C55 hits 510MHz]

http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4096

We have received some hints from a motherboard engineer who has been testing out overclocking capabilities of the soon-to-be in market ATi RD600 chipset motherboard and NVIDIA C55 chipset motherboard for the Intel platform. RD600 seems capable of hitting 520MHz FSB with the right voltage adjustments, while the new generation NVIDIA MCP C55 lags slightly behind at 510MHz FSB. Both seem to be doing good, and I'm excited just waiting for these boards!

Will I be able to use a Scythe Infinity on this board using the inverted mobo design on the Coolermaster Stacker T01 and the PSU in the bottom bay?

@Shiva1
they could of got mixed up about the r600 graphics not rd600 as that been reported to come out in nov.

edit: ah right an email from dfi ok so it is.

I expected it would not be out on time because some manufacturers are backing off and intel making it difficult for ati. Its so up in the air. I would just forget it till you see a proper review It might not reach expectation.

Nvidia G80 gfx comes out mid november.

Ati R600 comes out in Jan/Feb 2007

We should have a preview/review with a retail board sometime in the very near or not to distant future.
