dfi is great all around, it's probably the best oc'ing mobo out there, but you'll need to know what you're doing with the tweakings. epox 9npa+ would be another great choice. i forgot the infos about the asus, but they were negatives. god forbid they aren't crappy or anything.

DFI, buddy.

ASUS has been horrible on the AMD side of mobos latley. Not what they used to be.

the DFI is a great board, i used it on my first build no problems or tinkering whatsoever

DFI if you're into tweaking, overclocking.

Asus for features, great performance and reliability. especially the newer models.

personally, i'd recommend the epox 9npa. its a great overclocker and has great stability.

also it is much cheaper than either of those two boards ... its less than $100 at some places.

if you want the absolute best of the best, overclocking, features, layout, style and everything else, then wait for the Sapphire PURE to come out.

it is based on the ATI chip and is superior to other 939 boards (at least based on the numerous reviews of it)

Uhhh..no..I used it for my first build, put it together, turned on and ran flawlessly. I did 0 tweaking...unless you consider installing drivers tweaking -_-.

[*] Epox 9NPA+ Ultra
[*] MSI Neo4 Platinum or Neo4-F (if you don't need IEEE1394)
[*] Abit AN8 Ultra = great also.

Asus = overpriced & overhyped
DFI = good if you have hours & hours just to get your RAM stable

That Sapphire Pure sounds simply awesome (it might have me upgrading just to get that mobo ), but AFAIK, you can't buy it anywhere yet.

If you plan to do heavy overclocking then there is no choice other than DFI. If you just want something that is stable at stock speeds then you'd probably be better off getting something cheaper.

Edit: I had no problems getting my board working. Just hooked everything up and then installed windows.

DFI took me like 20 min to get my first boot. I couldn't boot for some strange reason.

RAM stable? Instantly.... I followed OCZ's suggested burnin procedures and my VX worked flawlessly. It's running 3.2 @ 240 2-2-2 right now. I should try 3.1 to see if I can save power even =P

I've had several very positive experiences with the ASUS boards. I can't comment on the DFI boards because I haven't used them.

I have the A8N-E board & it's awesome. It has all the features I need & then some. For those saying it's nothing but hype & overpriced, I think that's ridiculous.

$125 for a board this stable, reliable & upgradable is hardly overpriced. Overhyped? I don't think so. This board boasts enough power & performance to run whatever I need to throw at it.

As of BIOS 1005 (now shipping), it fully supports up to 4 GB of RAM, up to the X2 4800 & the FX-57.

If you can tolerate Nforce4 SLi on the side, get the Jetway Nforce4 SLi mobo. According to an Anandtech review, It has better than average overclocking abilities and great performance.
