Diablo 2 causing probs

I know this isnt the software forum but nobody replies there, so someone plz help me here. Recently i installed diablo 2 on my computer and after about 5 minutes of game play online, the game freezes and an error reading "unhandled exception, Access violation". if anybody is a gamer out there and knows what might be the problem, please tell me or give me any suggestions. (Ive already got the latest drivers for my video card [12.41 detonator]

Yes I have the latest patch for DII, I don't have problems with any other games either.

What are you using for graphics? directdraw.... or what?

And what is your vid card.

Madkow is my good friend, so I know what's in his comp :Q He has a Leadtek GeForce 2 32Mb. He got the 12.41 drivers for it. He has an MSI K7T Pro2a MB and Tbird 1100. I saw it happen to him, in the middle of playing online you hear an error pop up in the background and it freezes the game. Some time's he is able to get out of the game and see the error. Windows still runs fine in the background so I was thinking it is graphics related. But the error has to do with authetication so mabey it has something to do with his DII game not being authentic even though he bought it.

SOmeone else may have his CD-Code. Have him e-mail blizzard with his # and ask for a new one.

no, i use the real cd, and the xpac cd, its happened to me before, directdraw, it just quits out.

That has happened to me before also. Not sure if it did with Directdraw because I quit playing D2 shortly after starting to use directdraw. It would just happen all of a sudden at random times but it occured very rarely (less than 5-7 times since I've ever owned the game probably) so I didn't care.

I don't think it ever did it in win98 though and only in win2k...

Diablo II and DII Expansion both have given me &quot;Error decompressing sprite&quot; errors in W2K.

I run DII in Glide.

Had this problem when i tried installing with my cdrw drive and running the game. So I finally tried installing using a dvd drive and didn't get those errors anymore. In fact i used to get the errors mentioned in the first post occassionally but after the reinstall using the dvd drive it hasn't crashed once...using directdraw.
