Diablo 2 Crashing randomly under W2k

The symptoms are...

Game freezes
Ctrl + alt + del nonfuntional
Game music plays normally...
Not a heat problem at least I don't think since the game ran fine under WinME with the same temps.

I'm also using the latest official Nvidia Drivers for my Geforce 2.

What I have tried:
Switch ram down to PC 100 2-2-2
Windows mode
Tone down the graphics settings
DirectDraw

Still nothing.

Anyone know a fix for this?

btw: My CPU is not overclocked nor is my Vid Card.

256 mb Mushkin high Perf rev 2


I think that's all the important specs. I also have the Service pack 1 installed. I've also uninstalled it and the same lockup occurs.

I have similar specs. I can run the game fine for hours. I use version 5.32 drivers, AGP 2x, and Direct Draw. I use this for Win2K as AGP 4x and 6.18 drivers are not stable for my system.

P.S. I have all the settings on high
