My Plextor 8-4-32 does it perfectly every time.

Use CloneCD, and Copy Protect Detect to determine the proper settings.

1) It isn't hard to keep CDs in good (unscratched) working order with about 1/2 ounce of care. The shelf life of a CD is 75+yrs why should or why would you expect anyone (especially with the attitude you're giving them) to help you pirate/backup something that isn't made to be pirated/backedup.

2) After you buy 4 CDRs and waste your time looking for a solution (assuming you time is worth even $1/hr) you've spent $10.

time for me right now isnt worth any money yet... because i cant work yet...and its summer time for me I have alot of time( no school )

lets see... i wasnt mean to them at first, but why did they have to give me their smart ass answers? they could have just said NOTHING and diddnt answer? wow... isnt that hard? and CDRs are really cheap lately... i actually got paid to buy cdrs if you ever look at the hot deals section.... so.... yep...

sorry left something out.. sorry that i cant keep my cd's unscratch but i dont know it just somehow becomes scratch from me useing it.. probably because i play so many games and i dont have time to put them back into the case every single time .... i just leave it out so i can just put it in the cd drive to play...(fast)

I agree that you weren't "mean" with/to them to start with, but you have to admit that the thread screams "pirate" software. If you have so much worthless time why not dig into the issue and try to figure out what copy protectionm scheme(s) they've used and how to over come them to backup your CD(s).

alright kids....let's just simmer down here

He asked a legit question, let's leave it at that. "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all" applies here. Some may not agree with what he is doing...but it is not for you to judge. I too get very tired of peeps jumping on others for things they don't agree with. if you don't like it, STOP READING and go to the next thread. i would bet most peeps around here own plextor cdrw's for just that reason....TO MAKE BACKUPS...why else would some one buy a burnner capable of DOA. there are many other brands that are just as reliable.

...whatever........................

Sorry about the smarta$$ replies. Not all who frequent this board are jerks. Personally, I see nothing wrong with backing-up my software. Others may differ.

From what I've read on various sites, the only currently available writer that will copy ALL current copy protections is the Acer 12X8X32 Model 1208A. It is $102 at mwave.com and this week $119 at Best Buy w/$20 mail-in rebate.

From what I've read again, this writer will write BUT not read subchannel data. So for protections that use subchannel, the suggested CD ROM reader is supposed to be the Toshiba 16X DVD-48X CDROM Model SD-M1502T. It is $59 at mwave.

CloneCD is usually the software of choice for copy protected software.

Sorry, but had to throw this in for the person that said:

"It isn't hard to keep CDs in good (unscratched) working order with about 1/2 ounce of care."

You clearly don't have a 2 1/2 year old rummaging through your cds, throwing them all over the ground and jumping up and down on top of them. Hate when that happens. :disgust:

I can't prove that you want to pirate but neither can you prove me that you don't. So that's why I answer this way. It's a public forum and everyone can express his opinion as long as he doesn't insult anyone, flame etc. I didn't insult you and if you have that much trouble copying the damn game go to a warez forum and ask them.

When you ask these kinds of questions you must expect answers like that. Even if you have the original and just want to backup it, there are others here (hey we are 60000 people in these forums) who might read the solution to your problem and try it themeselves to copy and sell the backups. So in order for these forums not to become warez ones these questions should be avoided.

If I had a 2.5yr old he wouldn't be rummaging through/jumping on my CDs because:
1) I'd teach him not to.
2) I'd keep them out of reach.
3) I would not allow him in my office/near my comp without supervision (at that age).

thorin: this is pretty funny considering you don't have a kid, 1) I'd teach him not to.

Yeah, kids never do things they were taught not to do

No I don't have a kid but my niece and nephew were taught not to mistreat the computer/media, that they weren't toys. And they never did and never have. Now they're 4 and 6 and are able to use the computer unsupervised to play their own CD games with absolutely no problems.

If you are worried about a kid doing something they've been taught not to do then just don't present them with the opportunity. (ie: Put the CDs out of reach, etc...)

And if they do happen to do something they've been taught not to then talk to them about it and/or discipline them so that it is less likely to happen again.

Edit:
Of course these are just my thoughts and experiences....

Parents love to recieve advice on how to bring up their kids .

The best advices usually comes from non-parents who have all the ideal ways of rearing a child into perfect adults like we all have become.

I hope this came out sarcastic as it was intended to be.

Peace
