Diablo2 poor performance :(

Hi,

I installed Diablo2 today, and it is very choppy.

It gives me the following information:

2-7 fps ping: 10-30 video: Direct3D
Phys: 256/256 page: 66/161


I have an:
athlon750 with 256mb ram on an asus k7v
creative 16mb TNT
sblive player
20gb ibm gxp35 hdd


I get this problem with the orignal cd version(1.00) and the 1.03 patch

diablo2 takes up 25mb ram when running.

it takes about 3-5 seconds for the first map to load.

48x cd rom
UDMA66 maxtor 10gig 7200rpm

what speed is your hard drive and cd-rom? because i find that even with full install, it uses the cd alot, and after an hour it starts to get really hot and slow down, so i shut it off and let it cool down before starting again. how did you get the fps in it?

i think ur vid card causes u the lag in diablo2. anyway, try copying the d2music.mpq file thats on the cdrom onto your computer. i think u'll need a new *.exe too for this to work so that u can run diablo2 without the cd. also, during the game, press ESC and select the options, turn down ur video options and turn off music and whatever else options there are to increase system resources. this should fix some lag problems.

toph99: I have an ibm gxp35 hard drive (7200rpm with 2mb buffer)
and a sony crx140e 32x8x4 cd drive. and it is slow as soon as the map starts.

yakuza:I have allready copied that file from the play cd onto my hard drive and applied a no cd crack.
my cd drive is not accessed at all while playing, just my hard drive. I have also tried changing the video and sound setting...

like i said before, i think ur video card is ur main bottleneck. try running in directdraw 2d and see how that goes.
