anyone is looking for high quality diamond jewelry at the best prices I was able to locate, check out Di'Mend SCAASI . The store is ran by a Mr. Isaac Gottesman and he knows his stuff. I was able to buy a very nice anniversary ring for my wife at a much lower price vs. quality ratio than could be found elsewhere. The ring was custom made and delivered ahead of schedule. Absolutely perfect matching of the stones and superb workmanship in the ring.

i'm only buying a diamond if it is synthetic or non-de beers. oppose the de beers diamond cartel! did you know that de beers is not allowed to step foot in the US because there is pending litigation against them as a monopoly--every diamond dealer who buys firectly from de beers must fly to london to pick up their goods =)

bleh, get access to a high pressure lab somewhere at some university and attempt to make cheep diamonds then you can start a hot deal thread and sell 3 ct. flawless and colorless diamonds to us for uhh $10 a piece...that'd be a hot deal until some jerk decides to order 10000 of them.

Of course I wouldn't really mind if that jerk was me and I managed to destroy the de beers cartel in the span of 3 days by flooding the market with cheap ass diamonds 200x as nice as theirs.

Or I could probably sell them for millions and retire to some nice little country.

Hey, I knew this was a tough crowd! But you know, most of you are youngsters and some of you will be biting the bullet soon - getting engaged. I'm inclined to agree with most every comment in this thread about diamonds but try convincing your lady she only deserves cheap imitations - or just go to the nearest chain store and buy some milky looking piece of dull with money you could have better spent. It's the thought that counts - HA!!

There are artificial stones of such high quality that even the best gemologists can mistake them for the real thing. So, if you do pay good money for a stone try to deal with someone that has a good reputation and is trustworthy.

Unfortunately, you can tell the difference between industrial and real diamonds.

There are inclusions in real diamonds that apparently are hard to fake.

Diamond actually slowly changes phases back to graphite when under ambient pressure. Granted, it takes 10^5 to 10^6 years, but it's still funny.

Diamond, the most mundane substance ever (but excellent as a cutter).

Artifical Diamonds are getting better by the day. Soon it will be imposible to tell the difference between "natural" and "artifical" diamonds. DeBeers has actualy developed a way to imprint there logo on the side of a diamond so jewlers can tell them apart.

don't synthetic diamonds phosphoresce? under certain wavelengths of light, they will glow for a few seconds--this is one way to distinguish synthetic from natural.

I saw a 5.5 cttw round cut diamond today at...guess where? Sam's Club!!! I shat you not! They must've had some deal with a local dealer who set up shop next to the Sam's jewelry display. Anyway, this guy only had diamonds, most of them loose. This particular diamond was mounted in a simple setting. It looked...well...pretty damn huge! $42,000 for anyone that's interested. I wonder if they'd let you slide on the Sam's membership?

I once saw a site with Canadian Diamonds for sale. Non-debeers, non-synthetic.

matmax, you are very welcome. That is exactly the anniversary we celebrate today (10th). Have Isaac make you one like the one we got. 10 perfectly matched stones with a total weight ot 1.01 carats, G color and VS1. Price was about 30% less than the BEST deal I found otherwise for comparable quality.
